    Re: The Chad Thread

Yep getting worried about his approach to this.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

It's a big decision and will shape the remainder of his career - I don't mind him taking his time.

        Re: The Chad Thread

Perhaps Chad is waiting to see if dogs can satisfy port demands before stating his intentions. He might be a relaxed kinda fella who is not fussed if he stays at port or comes to us. Hence he does not want to say anything publicly until a mutually agreeable deal is imminent. Just hope whatever goes down does not stop us from exploring other plans. Sam power strikes me as an intelligent chap so I am pretty confident it will all turn out ok for us. Perhaps it might be next year before chad is in RWB and we get to keep pick 6/7 in this draft, or we have another player if interest if chad not keen on us.

            Re: The Chad Thread

Port people say that Chad loves the attention so this dragging out is no surprise.

I do get the feeling he’s holding back until/if a deal can be agreed upon to save face in the event no deal can be done and he has to stay at Port.

For Davies to suggest they haven’t contacted Wingard or his management and that they are just planning for him to be at the club because he’s contracted until he says otherwise is a smokescreen. Of course Port would be in close dialogue with his management.

Given the dollars concerned I get that it's a big decision but he's had enough time to confirm his intention to explore his options or to shut it all down with a clear 'I'm staying' message.

If he stays with Port and can grab headlines again in 12 months time when his contract expires.
Could it be that he has decided to come to us and just hasn’t released it publicly yet?
Maybe he has instructed his management to let the clubs get a deal done and then, once sorted, announce it. Could be a mature, respectful approach to let it play out without media scrutiny; or just an insurance policy just in case a deal doesn’t get struck and he ends up staying (to avoid alienating all the Port fans).

              Fingers crossed.

Maybe he just doesn’t care and let’s his manager sort it out and goes wherever his manager decides his best for him, after all
                That is a managers job.

Maybe he's still undecided the longer he takes to decide I feel the less likely it is that he'll leave Port.

                    Re: The Chad Thread

Is it an old fashioned bidding war or have we not agreed terms or he is just purposefully annoying port

They’ve shed a fair bit of salary with Pittard and Polec leaving but have Lycett coming in

They still have Hombsch in the mix at the Gold Coast - perhaps after May trade

If it was a Dogs player, we'd be ropeable.

Hope he comes, but not impressed by how he's playing this.

Really shocked by how fast people expect decisions to be made here. Gaff as an example has just taken an entire year to decide to stay at his club.
Chad so far has been 3 weeks. It's likely to be his last big contract, he is entitled to take his time to make the right decision for him.

If the dogs don't want to wait for him they don't have to

Gaff gave North a verbal assurance he was coming and then changed his mind so I'm not sure he is a shining example. Chad has had more than 3 weeks to make a decision, it was being speculated before the season ended some 5 weeks ago.

We've been talking about this since last year.

Here is the rub though. Port risk losing him next year and probably wont get better than pick 7 as compensation. Unless he is going to sign a new deal now, if I were Port I would be shopping him.
