I'm not saying I want to trade Marra, in fact I love the shit out of him and think we're the right place for him. But it might turn out at the end of this year he doesn't sign, and no ****ing way am I not trading him when his value is high and enabling a royal ****ing at the trade table to befall us like it has the last few seasons if we decide to hang on until the end of his contract period.

So under those circumstances, who gives a shit what he turns into if it's not going to benefit us? I'll take Gulden, Butters, all the first round draft picks, Warner or whoever/ whatever. If Marra doesn't extend this year I want him gone at this year's trade period.

Your talking of course if Marra wants to leave and doesn't want to stay , then of course im looking for the best trade we can get , your absolutely right that we don't let the contract drag out to the end then get nothing, but im just absolutely peed off giving up guys who dominate after they leave us ( Quinlan ,Wilson , dempsy , Round i can go on and on )hope you get my point , its just so frustrating watching a guy we nurtured destroy us .

Any argument of Gulden or Butters is splitting hairs. If it was a one season loan for 2025, you could argue that Gulden is more needed - but Butters coming in when Libba and Treloar go out would be absolutely perfect for us.

Gulden has managed to make Joel Amartey look good at times. Imagine what he could do with Sam Darcy.

I am not sure what your experience is in an AFL coaches box, list management decisions, or match committee however, you seem confident about what goes on in there. I am sure you have a good reason for it, and to help with the discussion, I can use inside and outside terms so we can at least discuss things.

Firstly theres no way im trading Marra , cos i just know the minute we trade him he explodes and becomes the next Lockett , or what ever full forward who dominated his era , so Marra stays , Butters is elite and would be worth every penny we pay him , but to be honest in my opinion Gulden is the one id chose only because , to me he would be our Hunter upgrade and i mean upgrade imagine him getting it 25 times a game but delivering it chest height to the likes of Marra and Darcy 20 times a game , that there my friends would be the difference between struggling into 6th or 7th place or top 4 , Warner is a bit hit and miss for me brilliant one week but when he gets held not much out put but Gulden with that lethal left foot would be a god send for us , but if we missed out on Gulden but got Butters id still be as happy as a pig in you know what

Same reasoning for me with Gulden. That sort of capability of delivery is something we haven't had since the sublime Mr. Gilbee. And Gulden has better running and gathering capacity.

As a counter point on Marra leaving and then dominating elsewhere, after Buddy went to Sydney the Hawks won their three-peat. And we do have Croft. But I would also hate to see Marra killing it elsewhere.

The return we got from Dunkley and Smith was very disappointing but without a contract we were over a barrel. If you could extract a Gulden or Butters level return for being pro-active in trading out someone before they are out of contract if we think he might go for the big bucks or high profile of a big club the next year.
