When does free-agency start, and what are the minimum qualfications for a player to qualify? Is it 8 years service? If so then at the end of this contract he would be eligible, and would no doubt be in a much stronger position negotiation wise.
Griffen's manager has set it up for free agency.
Free agency comes in end of 2012, just when Griff comes out of contract - and his 8 years will be up as well.
