I still like Cloke he has a tank and is very good further up The ground towards the wing taking a big grab.

I don't know why Cloke is in the gun.

If we were into Trengove & Schache all year, why we're in a rush to sign Roberts or Redpath? That's the question, if Crameri is still wanted. Or why not offer Campbell, with all his salary paid during the trade period, if Crameri is still wanted. Or why not sign Crameri up early and force decisions on other players, if Crameri is still wanted.

To me either the list manager is inept, or Crameri is no longer wanted.

Maybe Cloke is seen as someone to teach players in the VFL and would only come in if we suffered injuries.

I guess the random variable in that equation is Stringer's departure. I am supposing that Crameri had been earmaked as a likely delisting throughout the year, however the rapid deterioration of Stringer's tenure and ultimate trade (probably unforseen until late in the year) has caused a rethink on the value of Crameri's skillset within the conext of our list.

Love to see Crameri on the list next year has been through alot deserves the spot more then Cloke TBH
            Couple of problems here.

First of all, how many talls is too many talls. I think what you were trying to say is "We have some depth with our talls".

Secondly, why does Crameri deserve the spot more than Cloke, who broke a lucrative contract and took a massive pay cut to come to our club?

              - Keep Cloke, his style of play at his peak is exactly what we want Schache to become - a roaming tall forward with a good tank / workrate. Seems like a perfect mentor for a year.
              - Upgrade Roarke. We've put enough work into him and on what we've seen I think he's better than pick 82 in a weak draft
              - Rookie Crammers. He's not a best 22 lock but we'll suffer injuries and a mature body who can play medium forward and has a decent tank means if he knuckles down he can play games. We can't forget he is a four time leading club goal-kicker at AFL level and he's under 30. We get one more year to get a proper look at him after the write off of the last two years.

We have enough kids on the list and will add two more first rounders this year.

I think maybe Crammers' hip must be in seriously bad shape for us to retain Honeychurch and cut him.

What happens if some other club with a low pick (say in the 60s or 70s) grabs Smith, is that even possible?

It doesn't work like that. We would inform the AFL that we intend to upgrade Smith to the primary list and our last draft pick (82 this year) is allocated for that purpose. Smith wouldn't actually enter the draft.

Does anyone think we have someone in mind or just a case of best available?

On a side note, the Crows have taken a punt that Jackson Edwards (son of Tyson) will slip through to the rookie draft. They've used their late picks on Gibson from North (91) and to upgrade Greenwood and Keath. Buckenara rates him as the 25th best in the draft. Lacks the speed we desperately need, but any interest?

Adelaide rolls dice with possible father-son draft pick Jackson Edwards
ADELAIDE is at serious risk of losing father-son prospect Jackson Edwards to a rival club.

The Crows’ eleventh-hour decision to trade pick 91 to North Melbourne for veteran ball magnet Sam Gibson and upgrading of rookies Hugh Greenwood and Alex Keath to the senior list has left them short of draft selections and playing a dangerous waiting game.

Adelaide has nominated Edwards – the oldest son of 321-game club great Tyson Edwards – as its second-ever father-son pick, behind his cousin Ben Jarman, who was taken as a rookie last year.

But with only two live selections (12 and 39) at the November 24 player lottery, the Crows, who currently do not believe Edwards is worth taking that high, will not have the draft arsenal to match a bid for Edwards should a rival call his name after they have used their second pick.

Adelaide has committed only to taking the left-footed midfielder in the rookie draft – he automatically becomes a Crow if he slips that far – and, at this stage, says it won’t use one of its two live national draft picks on him. The Crows also have selections 77 and 109 but they have been preserved for upgrading big-bodied midfielder Greenwood and key defender Keath, who played AFL this year and are considered fine long-term players.

Adelaide also had pick 91 but offloaded it to the Kangaroos to bring in 31-year-old midfielder/half-back Gibson, who finished sixth in the Roos’ club champion award this year and is a good insurance policy for injured rebounding defender Brodie Smith, who will miss most of next season following a knee reconstruction.

“There is always that possibility and a little bit of risk there,’’ chief executive Andrew Fagan said of the chance of the Crows letting Edwards slip through their grasp.

“We’ll have to stick true to our talent order through the draft. Should he be available after the national draft, then we will certainly pick him up.”

Edwards, who played four league games for Glenelg this year, is widely projected to be in the 35-70 draft range.

But AFL list analyst and four-times Hawthorn premiership player Gary Buckenara has rated him as his 25th-best prospect.

“He has really come on this year, has good skills and makes good decisions because he is composed with the footy in hand,’’ Buckenara said of Edwards.

The knock on Edwards, who is a good size at 186cm and 77kg, is his lack of speed.

But he is a natural ballwinner who uses it well and is renowned for being super-professional with his preparation.

He is not dissimilar to Crows club champion Matt Crouch in the way he plays.

Fagan said the Edwards family are well aware of where Jackson sits in their pecking order.

“We’ve been in constant dialogue with Jackson and his family,” Fagan said.

“They know there is a commitment to take him in the rookie draft.

“It doesn’t provide a promise to Jackson that we will get him, so there is a little bit of risk there, but we will stick true to our talent order in the draft.

“It’s all about the balance of the team.’’

I've watched Jackson play for a few years, he's a smooth mover and very cool under pressure with great skills. Needs to build up a bit more muscle but he has an athletic build already. Isn't the fastest kid on the block which is an issue as he isn't an in and under player. I'd suggest he'd be a strong candidate for a go home factor if drafted by an interstate club, the Edwards family is very close knit.

Incidentally he's first cousins of Ben Jarman

jacksons younger brother Luke Edwards may we'll be the best player in the family. He's still 3 years away (I think) but he's looking to be a superstar
