Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: Best draft prospects ranked

      Click above to read all.

He has ranked Daicos number one, and Sam Darcy three

      Forward/defender
      204cm/75kg
      19/7/03
      Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro

The newest player in the discussion for the No.1 pick. Darcy has pieced together an outstanding season, dominating as a key forward who can also play in defence and the ruck. The Western Bulldogs father-son is best suited to attack, as seen on Sunday when he kicked six goals in a best-on-ground display for Vic Metro in its trial game against Vic Country. The best thing about Darcy is his agility and athleticism for a player his size. He kicks goals from set shots, snaps, taking the ball out of the ruck, from ground-level pick-ups and everything in between. Recruiters are talking about Darcy, the son of former Dogs ruckman Luke, as the potential best prospect in 2021.

Raak not mentioned in the top 20. Just a reminder of the rule change if we want him:

Pick 20-40: WBFC can match bid with 197 Draft Point Discount
Pick 41+: WBFC can match bid with their ‘next pick’
Not Bid on: Category B Rookie

Today’s Herald Sun in Sheahan Ink

A potential top two AFL draft pick was sent packing from a Sorrento supermarket by a Richmond premiership legend yesterday for failing to sport a mask.

Richmond’s 1980 premiership coach Tony Jewell was incensed at the young fella’s refusal to wear a mask like everyone else in the IGA supermarket in Sorrento’s main street.

Tensions are high with Melbourne thrown into another five day lockdown.

TJ approached the man-mountain wearing Oakleigh Chargers shorts and socks, asking him where his mask was.

The 204cm aspiring AFL player said his was broken.

Jewell then asked to see the evidence and when he failed to produce it TJ told him: “Get out, get out.”

The U18 star was walking through the fruit and vegetable section with two mates but that’s as far as he got. Furious with the kid’s nonchalance, TJ escorted him from the building.

When Sheahan Ink quizzed Jewell on the situation and whether he recognised the soon-to-be-star he replied: “Well, I’ll be damned” while laughing.

Melburnians are fed up with those flouting Covid rules and want to return to the new normal where borders are open and shops free to operate.
"I'll give him a hug before the first bounce and then I'll run into my pack and give them orders to rip him apart."

Frankly if I had a top 5 pick, I would just ignore him completely.

Or better yet. The afel should ban this player for the season and draft combine. To show society how seriously they take potential COVID breaches.

No way as if Luke Darcy's son doesn't want to comply with COVID restrictions I actually can't believe it.

Only 4 million deaths so far (that we know of) and 555k new cases a day world wide. What do you mean contagious?!

That said over 70% of the population have been vaccinated (at least 1 jab) and 55% double jabbed. Given that under 18's are not getting it yet. that means the % of the adult population jabbed is a higher.

Personally we have been isolating for 10 days as first our middle kid got it and she passed it on to our youngest who as yet has not managed to pass it on to our eldest.....fingers crossed we escape, but the kids themselves were fine within 24 hours.

AS for how serious it is, its a pandemic and hence very serious, but more serious for some people than others and more serious for people who aren't vaccinated. I don't buy the conspiracy bullsh*t but I do think that locking down the way Australia has locked down actually has meant that the impact when it does take hold is far greater.

List state of play: The Dogs couldn’t be better placed for a premiership tilt, with terrific age demographic and balance – yet star factor too – across every area of the ground. It seems this year’s draft for them will be a case of ‘best available’ – and for the second straight season, they’ve got priority access to one of the draft class’ best talents.

Ideal draft prospects: After matching a Pick 1 bid on Academy product Jamarra Ugle-Hagan last year, it’s likely the Dogs will again be forced to match an early play from a rival club on their father-son prospect Sam Darcy – the son of best and fairest and All-Australian Luke Darcy. And there’s every chance the team with Pick 1 makes the Dogs earn Darcy, who’s shot up draft boards in recent weeks after his six-goal haul for Vic Metro in a trial game against Vic Country. If any Dogs fans are concerned about trying to fit another key-position player (204cm) into the best 22, fear not, because Darcy’s insane versatility and athleticism means he can play in any third of the ground. Prior to his six-goal haul as a forward, he played three NAB League games for Oakleigh Chargers as a key defender that pinch-hit in the ruck, averaging 16 disposals and six marks per game. The Dogs, again, have another beauty and will, again, bank points to ensure they can match any bid on Darcy.
