    Round 6:

    Ours:

    Pick 8 (Dogs)
    Pick 13/14 (Bris)
    Pick 31/32 (Bris)
    Pick 62 (Dogs)
    Pick 65 (Geel)
    Pick 64-70 (Melb)

(* c. 320 Draft Points in last three picks: Croft as a F/S as high as Pick 35 with no deficit (inc. of discount) if required)
(* c. 320 DPs where Croft is a late pick. Option to package up late picks to trade up the order in a DP Trade)

    Giving:

Pick 26 (on top of 2022 Pick 30) for Rory Lobb - 1,358 DPs or =Pick 11 in DPs
    Pick 44 & 46-52 (Hunter pick) on-traded for upgrade to Pick 32
= Hunter for a future 12 pick, second round, upgrade (=Pick 53 in DPs)

Free Agency Compo Tiers (at natural selection):

    First: Pick 9
    Second: Pick 27
Third: Pick 45 (Likely best case on Bailey Williams as a theoretical RFA)

    *** Mid-Season Draft: Pick 8

      Rolling Dunkley & Hunter Trades:

      Out: Dunkley & Hunter, Pick 44 (2023)

      In: Charlie Clarke, Pick 13/14, 32 & 65

Also, saving approximately $1.5M per season. Less wages for Clarke, Baker and kids this year. Net $1M extra in salary cap.

      Treloar vs Dunkley:

      Hunter vs Baker:

      Summary of current trade status:

Treloar has superior output to Dunkley this year
Baker is the ‘Aldi’ version of Hunter, with lots of cash left in the household budget

Charlie Clarke is developing at Footscray, a player in a position of need
Dogs currently have additional Picks 13/14, 32 & 65 this year (trade currency and points for Croft)
Net $1M extra in the salary cap

Pick 8 and 14 - in 2019 that's Caleb Serong and Will Day. Quality

Academy matched bids & FSs make it really hard to judge though.

Handy picks in a strong draft. And/or Pick 13/14 could be a good trading pick for the right target.

Really starting to take shape now, seven rounds in. It’s not a rebuild hand these picks at present. If it’s ‘list refresh’ that Sam Power is after, then 9, 15, Lohmann and Croft with future picks to trade and free agent cash is looking like a nice refresh. Not to forget Scott, McNeil & Roarke need to be elevated or delisted after their three year term so there’s going to have to be rookie list movement too. Plus our existing vacancy.

I have a feeling this will be roughly where it ends up. The bottom teams are putrid and I’m not thinking we are shooting up the ladder with a bullet. So what we can do with the two picks around 10-15 at draft and/or trade will be very interesting.

Not a refresh but an injection of some youth as the list starts to age.

I hope so. We need to cut a bit harder than I thought in the preseason for this reason. We need some kids to develop. Whilst the Footscray promotion thing is a nice touch, guys like McComb, Scott, Gowers, Hannan (vis Dees) really haven’t done a great deal while Gardner would be as solid as we’ve gotten for a fair while.

The interesting thing is whether we promote all of McNeil, Scott & Roarke to the main list and clog up the last few spots and look at three rookies. Make some tough calls, get kids late in the ND and a blend of rookies (kids and maybe a Baker type) or look to delist them but then re-rookie draft them.

But I think we can bring In immediate impact players if we can attract them and draft for the future with the draft hand as it’s looking. To what extent will be up to our willingness to delist and if any players look to leave.

                        Re: Rolling Draft Order 2023

If Cadman gets bid before GCS circa Pick 5 - Our picks 12 & 15 would be a great rare for them if we wanted to move up for a gun midfielder. But not bringing in multiple high pick kids is a big issue. Unless a couple of free agents somehow landed with us.

Or keep the picks, for draft and trade. Plus look at Free agents.

As all our picks are sliding down the order, and if they stay in this range, the strategy will broaden me thinks.

Going to struggle a bit, unless B. Williams left as a RFA for end of second round compo. Which would need a good FA offer.

Just as the FA talk ramped up regarding Williams his performances have improved. I'm now of the opinion to keep him.
