    WESTERN BULLDOGS
    Current Indicative Draft Order: 10, 17, 36, 64, 66, 71, 84

The Western Bulldogs hold two first round picks, with a selection in the teens tied to Brisbane’s finishing position (currently at 17). Perhaps the most intriguing factor for Bulldogs fans is where a bid falls for father-son Jordan Croft on draft night. The athletic key forward told this publication this week that he is yet to decide whether he will nominate as a father-son, but assuming he does, a rival bid could fall between their two first round selections. Given the Dogs and well stocked for talls and midfielders as it is – even if they lose Bailey Smith – a player like running machine Darcy Wilson could appeal to fill a wing spot into the future. Alternatively, would the Western Bulldogs package their two prized picks and move up the board to pick a matchwinner like small forward Nick Watson?

          WESTERN BULLDOGS:

          Current Indicative Draft Order: 10, 17, 36, 63, 66 & 71

          Picks 10 & 17 (will be 15-18) - for - Pick 4?

          Picks 36, 63, 66 & 71 = 723 Draft Points

1,065 DP needed after discount at Pick 11 (Twomey suggests 11)

422 Draft Points short. But easily made up by splitting Pick 36 (you?d expect c. 150 from such a trade) and likely points for Khamis (101 points if Essendon) & Sweet (say swap WCE 71 for 57, netting 153 extra points).

Lual if he gets passed Pick 40 is about 200 points or free at Pick 55+. So easily live tradable or if we got a few extra points elsewhere. Maybe an unneeded late GCS pick.

So looks like if we get GCS Pick 4. It?s Watson/McKercher, Croft and perhaps maybe Lual, a late pick, then rookie upgrade/s

I suspect, but for say compo for McLean, trading is heavily centred on future picks. Which works with Lohmann/Brisbane as an example. Where there?s a free agent in the radar like Doedee, who knows.

Any bigger name players will need to involved picks higher than 10.

The Schache pick now has got some points now due to a straight sets exit. Nice to get something other than satisfaction from the Dees back to back straight sets. With now pick 69 or 70, for 39 to 49 draft points. Nice little bonus tonight.

              Re: Rolling Draft Order 2023

Because we choked out and Dees choked out in straight sets, the two third rounders we gave Brisbane to get their second rounder will see us LOSE overall draft points (by a small amount).

                Re: Rolling Draft Order 2023

                Maybe a problem.

The AFEL are apparently going to hand North Pick 11 as charity. Per reporting from the Hun.

                They will have 11 & 15.

                We have 10 & 18.

If North go after the GCS pick (with more draft points than us) instead of getting depth in the first round, then we will be in a dog fight to get Pick 4.

I hope the AFEL make North use the pick 11, or the AFEL are going to potentially harm us to help them. This is where we need a very, very strong representation from our President, CEO & Footy Boss to not be collateral damage.

Hopefully, it wouldn’t hurt anyone if it was added to Pick 2 to trade them up to Pick 1.

These draft leg ups are insanely stupid. Stop tampering with the draft order AFEL!

Eagles would surely take pick 2 and 11 for pick 1 if they intend to take Curtain anyway.

There has to be other ways other than draft concessions.
The draft is supposed to be the leveller. If you keep ****ing with it then the ripple disrupts everything.

So knee jerk, emphasis on the JERK!

If the contract for first rounders extends from 2 to 3 years as some suggest may happen, the Eagles may be more inclined to back themselves in to keep Reid

Locked in with GWS down last night: Dunkley (natural falling) picks 17-18 and 36-37. Losing maybe 100 draft points because we traded two thirds to get pick 36-37.

So since the second/thirds cancel each other out:

                          Dunkley for:

                          Pick 21/Charlie Clarke
Pick 17-18 (23-24 after compo and bids)
Pick 63 (will shuffle down after free agency to closer to 70)

                          (Taranto: Picks 12 & 19)

                          We ponied up.
