    Minister of Trades

It's become very obvious that Eade prefers players who have a certain amount of tenacity and intensity and that is one of the reasons why the laconic types like Hill and Everitt are struggling to command a regular spot despite their skill level and athletic abilities.

With that in mind, is it time to test the trade winds for these 2 guys and see what might be realistically available or do we stick with these guys and try and work out a way of them lifting their work rate? Personally I'd hate to see then languishing at Williamstown for most of next season.

With regards to trade options, I'm not talking about Everitt for say Jarred Brennan because that just won't happen but what sort of draft pick or player might Everitt and Hill be worth to other clubs?

I wouldn't mind us having a crack at landing the out of favour Andrew Walker from the Blues because despite his kicking skills not being that flash he is probably a better run with and shut down option than Cross or Boyd who haven't really stuck to their tasks in that regard this season.

I could see us using Walker and Picken as the defensive stoppers plus Walker can play on some taller opponents as well. That being said, we would have to be convinced that he was over the worst of his injuries. Another consideration is if getting a player like him would just take a spot that Sam Reid might otherwise be a contender for.

Are there any other players that are rumored to be looking to make a move that we could use and realistically might have a chance of getting?

Summed it up well. No coincidence Callan, Hooper & Addison have been the ones to get games in the finals given their intensity at the contest.

Trading Hill & Everitt may escape Sockeye's rule as it would be more about finding them consistent game time than a Cross or Gia move

I would be looking for a quality crumber from maybe Carlton or Geelong who seem to have a few of them
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

The Swans have simply ignored Sockeyes no trade rule and normally do very well with it.
They are very good at finding under valued players at other clubs and knowing that they can offer them a specific role.

and we have been bad at doing this. We have in the past picked up players reaching close to 30 rather than a player around 24 who has been under valued by their club.

What would have to do to get a Chris Knight? Would they want an Everitt or Hill?

I don't think either of these guys would get that trade over the line. The Crows would want more for Knights.

He doesn't fit the bill of under valued at all.

A top pick or a A-/B grade player would be required, neither of which Hill or Everitt are.

Our best bet is to deal with clubs who will overvalue the likes of Hill and Everitt and stock up on some decent draft picks, which means we should be making calls to West Coast and GC.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

I'd add Carlton to that list. They might have some interest in Everitt to top up their defensive options. They are apparently keen on Tarrant sand if they miss out on him then Everitt might be on their shopping list.

I don't think we will have to move them on, I thoroughly expect them both to ask for a trade.

Neither have a future with us (and I doubt they do with anyone else, either).

I wouldn't mind that either but according to Andrew(who I just happened to make breakfast for this morning) he doesn't think Carlton will let him go(and he wouldn't mind going elsewhere if it meant he got more game time), not unless they received a very good offer. Last year they were into Everitt in a big way(as well as the Saints) so hopefully this could temp them. He says his shoulders are unbreakable now so they shouldn't be a problem.

Bacher Houli is another that I wouldn't mind us going after as he would be around equal trade value with Everitt and offers some outside run and a nice kick. And McKinley from the Eagles could also be a straight swap value for Hill IMO and could slot into our forwardline.

Maybe Minson and our first round compo pick that we get for Harbrow. I would do this trade in a heart beat as Knights is a gun, but the crows probably wouldn't accept.

                        Re: Minister of Trades

Hill to WC seems a plausible option, and perhaps we could work it something like:

Hill + 3rd round selection for 2nd round selection

No idea if that would get the job done but if we could get another live pick in the top 30 we should be able to get a decent player - the fact that our first and second round selections are off limits this year does perhaps restrict our trade movements a bit, although certainly no qualms about that!

McKinley is one who has been touted a lot by WC fans (probably because he's no good) but I did see he kicked a big bag on the weekend in WAFL.

Not sure what offers we may get for Everitt, but it appears as though he doesn't have a future with us unless something changes. I'm not a huge fan of Walker, but he could add some depth and could potentially be the type of player we could trade Everitt for - and someone who'll help drive more improvement to the list in the shorter term.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

What is his work rate like though? i keep hearing from Bombers supporters that he has no defensive apsects to his game what so ever, and he isn't that quick which i believe is vital for purely outside players.

Both Everitt & Hill have class, but both lack the intensity levels needed for good strong hard finals style football, i think those qualities have to be ticked off just as much as skill & pace, otherwise we just keep falling into the trap of depending on players that get lost in those big games.

Not sure on the defensive side of his game , but the limited times i've seen him play he's done well and i thought he had a bit of toe and good disposal.
