    Footscray 2015!

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I cannot wait for Footscray to start their 2015 campaign.

Obviously alot of exctiment will surround the AFL season with Tom Boyd pulling on the tri colours and seeing our young brigade of potential A graders continue to delvelop together.

However, I'm just as excited to see a very new-look Footscray and what some of our listed players who have been around for a few seasons and our new recruits can produce.

Zaine Cordy and Joel Hamling will be new additions to the backline. Both will most certaintly start at Footscray and it will be compelling viewing seeing how they stack up. Jordan Russell will be a great leader for them back there.

Roberts and Talia will spend more time at Footscray, will be interesting to see if further progression has been made. I'm hoping we see alot more of them at AFL level.

Will be great to see what Biggs can do. I'm hoping we start him on the back flank for Footscray. Looks like he has no problems finding the ball, if he can really work hard on the defensive side of his game and ball use he will turn out to be a very handy pick up.

Ayce Cordy will have another pre season under his belt, here's hoping he has another great run at it this year. Again, will be great to see how much another pre season has improved his game.

I've only seen Prudden play once, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do on the field.

Blokes like Redpath, Honeychurch, Hunter ect who will need step up again if they want to be regular AFL players next year. Hoping Hunter has a big pre season.

Then we will have potentially 5 new draftees to keep an eye on!

Who or what are people most looking forward to seeing at VFL level this year?

It will be interesting to see how the Footscray game plan alters in light of a new senior coach at the Western Bulldogs. I'm looking forward to seeing a number of the Footscray boys move up more regularly into the seniors (Lin Jong, Redpath, Talia, Roberts) and the emergence of a new batch of young Dogs (Prudden, Honeychurch, Biggs, Hamling and the new draftees) pushing strongly for senior selection during the year.

Hoping for another great year from our Footscray VFL side. Hopefully we can go back to back - that would be great. As Jaytee said it will intersting see how the new draftees go which are being selected tonight.

Think the most exciting thing is going to be the new faces, Hamling, 5 draftees and then probably 2 or 3 new rookies as well.

          Reigning. Premiers.

In addition to seeing all the new faces I'm really looking forward to seeing the flag being unfurled. I wonder if we still have the 1923 and 1924 flags? We should unfurl those as well and claim our hatrick.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I'm happy to continue winning premierships. The Grand Final was close to the best day Ive ever had at the footy.

It was certainly a lot of fun, and the reactions of a lot of the older bulldogs supporters made me enjoy it even more. That said the heaven and hell experiences of bulldog preliminary finals is the closest we've come to an AFL premiership. In most of our prelims you can't help but dare to dream, and hope that we are about to take the next step. Im still annoyed about a few of the losses, but thats life. Ultimately they've ended up breaking our hearts, but for most of us our spirit is not broken, and we will cherish our real moment in the sun when it comes.

The VFL GF was though, a very special day.

                  Seconded.

Managed to record the replay on the DVR on the Tuesday morning. I reckon I've watched that last quarter 50 times.

Can still picture you bear hugging your son and old man when Jones slots his 4th from the 50.

                    Re: Footscray 2015!

I played a part as an extra in a local feature film production, titled Pawno, last week. As it's set in Footscray the costume lady let me wear my VFL Premiers 2014 shirt. Was absolutely stoked. Just been informed that it's been nominated for an Oscar, the Best Footscray Shirt On An Extra In A Foreign Film goes to…

People that tell me it's only the ressies just haven't seen the effect it has on some of the true locals, and I expect that will only increase next year.

                    Can't wait!!

Funnily enough I am sitting watching the game V Box Hill at Whitten Oval on replay. Clay Smith is about the smartest footballer for his age I've seen, I really hope he makes it.

Is that the game where he drills a goal from a set shot 45m out on the boundary line in the wet late in the 3rd quarter?

I remember saying at the time Clay is one of only a couple at the club that could've kicked it.

That's the one. There's also a couple of other really smart things as well. He gets ball side of an opponent after feigning being out of the contest and takes the mark after he feels his opponent relax in the second quarter as well.

The one you mentioned he was the first and last player to touch the ball in the scoring chain. He collects the ball just outside the opposition goal square hand balls it and then runs flat chat into the forward line to provide a marking option and ends up kicking the goal.

The VFL fixture I think will be released this week. I think will be playing more VFL home games at WO in 2015.
