    Best song ever

Underdog got me thinking again about this topic. It was in my mind for a coup,e of weeks anyway

I dont you to just list your favorite song. That would be another topic for another time but this time.

My pesonal opinion is "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" First heard it on a Nick Cave album and just thought it was perfect. The journey he tqkes, the towns he'll be passing through when she gets to the various stages of realising he's gone for good this time all just build to a brilliant crescendo. The music sets the scene with the bass just almost minicing the beating of a human heart and the inderstated gutair playing same three notes played a little faster each time-it's menacing It's the most covered song of all time according to Wikipedia.

My favorite version is the Issac Hayes 18 minute epic version. Every other artist seems to be able to knock it over in no more than 3 and ahalf to 4 minutes.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

First Big Weekend of the Summer - Arab Strap.

You know it starts Thursday night as usual with the canteen quiz, and once again no one wins the big cash prize.

    And it is uncoverable!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

It's played on one of the later Underbelly episodes-ep 11 or 12. Perfect lyrics for the show.

Quite a fan of "Third Eye" by Tool - do 14 minute songs still capture the attention of the young 'uns though?

Demon Cleaner (Kyuss) is a personal favourite, whilst in Aussie terms "You Shook Me All Night Long" is still AC/DC's biggest hit and has everything you need in a balls out rock song. "Throw Your Arms Around Me" has the hallmarks of one of the great pissed singalongs.

Anyone who seriously mentions Billy Ray Cyrus or Check 1,2 should be banned from this forum.

                    They do for me.

Best song ever is Take by The John Butler Trio, its best live (like most great songs). JBT have numerous songs over 8minutes long and in concert up to 16minutes. Ocean, which is the favourite song of many of my friends in the 14-19 year old age bracket, goes for 14-16 minutes and features just one guitar and a foot tapping on the floor.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Great choice Ernie, saw these guys a few times in pubs around Town, believe they were from the band Hoss and God was a side project.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Kinda. Tim and Joel and the other guys started in God when they were 16-17 YOs Before that they had another band when they were 14 or so that had a great song I think that was only ever realeased on cassete called Miss Helena about one of the Play School presenters.

                            Then came Hoss.
