Allegedly. Allegedly he got rid of the evidence. Or somebody allegedly did it for him.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Before I read the book I was convinced too but now I'm not so sure. He wrote a compelling case on his innocence although reading between the lines he wasn't a clean skin by any means. But whether he did what he was accused of I'm undecided.

Juniper (not her real name) came to us from a puppy farm. The good news is most of the puppy farms in Victoria are closing – not so in New South Wales

As in right now, I just read the above. The latest fine work from First Dog On The Moon. Not footy related, but so funny and touching and full of stuff.

My son's Star Wars picture book Beware of the Sith. It's a book about the exploits of Michael Talia.

Australian author assumed an email saying she’d won the Windham-Campbell prize was a hoax and ‘nearly keeled over’ after learning it was real

Slightly off topic, but I know a few of us are Helen Garner fans. This is a good news story and literary related, so I'm parking it here.

Wonderful, so pleased for her. Richly deserved.

Just finished reading Fromelles & Pozieres In the trenches in hell by Peter Fitzsimons.

I've a long held interest in the First World War, and having toured both of these battlefields and others in France and Belgium this book really interested me. A very well written and interesting account of both of these hellish battles. Whilst it's not necessarily a balanced account it really does give a personal insight into the individual soldiers and their plight.

Unbelievable what those blokes went through. It defies imagination. One old bloke told me that when he got back his old boss took him on again out of a sense of duty but he had to start his apprenticeship again because he'd been for a holiday on the other side of the world.

It really is harrowing reading first hand accounts of the first world war. I've read a few and two of the better ones were, called Some Desperate Glory from a British subaltern's perspective and another from a German soldier's perspective called Storm of Steel.
As for your story of the old bloke having to redo his apprenticeship.. how ridiculous. I wonder how indicative that account was of others experiences coming home?
