    Sheet music

    Probably a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone has access to sheet music for Sons of the West?

    I started piano lessons a few months ago and I'd love to be able to play our song!

    Dunno ML, but I know the original song it is based on is very old and is known as Sons Of The Sea. Probably a better chance looking for that.

      Here you go ML. It's Sons of the Seas but it's the same tune;

      They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

          Actually now that I look at it, I don't think that's the right song -- it's by the same composer, but a different tune. (I think -- my sight-reading is pretty ropey, but it doesn't look right to me.)

          Thanks anyway...

            There's a version of hawthorn singing it on the Australian movie the Club. Maybe it's on YouTube? It's worth seeing just for Rocket's performance.

                Ah, that's the one, thanks heaps BD. Trove is excellent.

                Good to see the original lyrics, too.

                Whether I can play it or not is the next question...

                  Trove is my fave site OTW at the moment. I am compiling match reports from our VFA premiership years. So far I have over 200.

                    Love Trove. I've been wasting time/researching old Women's Weekly's from the 1940s. Fascinating stuff!
