Re: Favourite song of a society/social awareness perspective.
What a great song. It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn't it? You wake up in the morning, you've got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you've got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you think "Sunday, bloody Sunday!".Park that car
Drop that phone
Sleep on the floor

That's the one I was thinkinging of! Not New Years Day.
It's about the Troubles in Northern Ireland. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

World Party - Ship of Fools
Being in China, I sometimes think about this song.
It was a swipe at rampant capitalism and religious meddling / exploitation in the third world
Travelin' the world, you're in search of no good
But I'm sure you're philosophic, like I knew you would
Using all the good people for your galley slaves
As your little boat struggles through the the warning waves
Besides, it was a funky track. Very cool. You don't develop courage by being happy in your relationships every day. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity. ― EpicurusComment

Leif Garrett. I Was Made For Dancing.....albeit not the intent of the 'artist' or the song...nonetheless I gained a lot of social awareness and perspective from the first time I saw him perform that on Countdown, and seeing how my older teenage sisters reacted..... That was my first insight into the true banality of evilComment

Here's a bit of context on Propagandhi and their place in "the scene" that came out today for the 2 people vaguely interested

Bad Religion did it better. By far my fav punk rock band. But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment
