    Favourite Instrumentals

    No singing/talking please.

Anything from The Atlantics - love the surf guitar, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Shadows, Dick Dale.
    I even like Herp Albert.

    Ennio Morricone was/is great.

All time favourite instrumental song would have to Green Onions from Booker T & the MGs.

I'm a big Morricone fan, great atmospheric music.

Weddingcake Island by Midnight Oil is my favorite instumental.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Aside from Jazz on Saturday mronings on community radio (I admit I have no idea who is playing or what I'm in fact listening too), I've always been a big fan of the Kyuss instrumentals from Blues for the Red Sun & Welcome to Sky Valley.

Local lads Firewitch do some interesting stuff with a drummer & two bass players.

Paligap & South Saturn Delta by Jimi Hendrix and Lenny by Stevie Ray Vaughan are 3 of my fave instrumentals.
Love Coltrane, Jimmy Smith & Wes Montgomery's intrumental work as well.

Ocean by John Butler hands down.

Different every time he plays live, 14 minutes long and is captivating. I challenge anybody to not say its amazing after seeing it live in concert. One of those songs that isn't captured well in recordings, but is great live.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Would most definitely agree with Wedding Cake Island, absolute classic.

                  Other Favs include:

The Lonely Shepherd - Zamfir (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Kill Bill Vol.1)
                  Sisters - Steve Vai
I would love to - Steve Vai

                  Does classical count, if so:

Adagio for Strings (Barger) - Platoon ~ very moving using strings.

                              honourable mentions...

                              a. Toumani Diabate's symmetric orchestra (weird beats)
                              b. Chris Joss - You've been Spiked (funk)
                              c. Cinematic Orchestra - Everyday (literally stuff that sounds like it's from old movies)
                              d. Jimmy Chamberlin Complex (Smashing Pumpkins drummer's solo experimental project)
                              e. Sigur Ros's stuff (ambient icelandic emo, I suppose)
                              f. Some house stuff I heard in Berlin this year. Those guys are nuts over there.
                              g. Debussy and Satie, of course. (piano stuff)
                              h. Heard Emmanuel Ax play Chopin earlier this year with the MSO. Heard him 15 years ago in Israel, but did he bring back some memories.. incredible.
