    Vale Malcolm Young

Aussie rock legend who wrote some great classics and played brilliant guitar.
Malcolm Young, guitarist and guiding force behind Australian hard rock band AC/DC, has been remembered as a "kind hearted soul" and the "greatest rhythm guitarist in the entire history of rock n roll".

Harry Vanda, Malcolm Young. They say bad news comes in threes.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I don't know how true it is (it's the sort of bs story that used to abound before we invented Google and finally found a way to prove people were talking crap) but legend use to have it that Harry Vanda, a few of the Youngs(Easybeats/ACDC) a couple of Gibb brothers (the Bee Gees) and Red Symons migrated to Australia on the same voyage. What a coincidence.

Probably true - all of the Easybeats came to Australia by boat as immigrants who met at Villawood detention centre as teenagers. Malcolm is one of the greatest rhythm guitarist the world has ever heard. The 3 albums in a row from Powerage to Back in Black are as good as music gets, and Malcolm was central to it. Vale.

Great from Triple M today paying tribute to Malcolm and AC/DC playing pretty much all their songs.

He was unique amongst guitarists in that he would turn his amp down low (relatively low by ACDC standards) but get the microphone as close as he could to the amp without blowing a fuse. If you listen to their records Mal's gutair is always really low but it's really rough and guttural to make up for it

According to Wiki Red Symons and the Bee Gees did arrive on the same ship in 1958. However the Young clan emigrated by air in 1963 and Geroge met Harry Vanda at Villawood as Sedat mentioned.

Cheers Axey. The talent nights on those voyages would have been great.

Assuming Red had already learned and mastered the gutair and Robin, Barry and Maurice had ingrained that incredible harmonising.
