Re: Podcast recommendations
Probably one for MJP but the Richards Report is something that I've enjoyed listening to. This report is by ex Essendon and Sydney Swans player Ted Richards
His latest effort is about a Moneyball analysis with the Swans Senior Recruiting Analyst Chris Keane.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

I listen to quite a lot of the Ringer network and other NBA podcasts. There's so much content out there that it's hard to digest it, particularly given I like to read and/or listen to music as part of my daily transit to and from work too.Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?Comment

Basically this sports company invests in minor league baseball players who if they make the major league pay a return to the company that invested in them early on. They go into the algorithms and statistical modelling that help them identifies the players to invest in

This weeks Richards report is another good one. This is about real moneyball not the fabricated one most people are aware of.

Re: Podcast recommendations
The character played by Jonah Hill Peter Brand was based on Paul DePodesta who part owns that company.
DePodesta wouldn't let the movie version use his name (unlike Bill Beane) so Peter Brand was invented
It's very interesting to see how some companies like the one detailed on the Richards report see opportunities in players and are willing to invest in them early to make a bigger return later on.

Re: Podcast recommendations
Although I am a chronic history nerd I have never really gotten hooked on post colonial Australian history. Until this came along:
It tells the story of the first few decades after the first fleet arrived and it's a rollicking tale. Well and truly worth a listen. Even if you aren't interested in history it's still bloody funny. Now, now it's funny. At the time it would have been horrifying. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Podcast recommendations
I can't recommend the Richards Report highly enough. I have an interest in investing and of course sports and he seems to find the right balance. His interviewing style and research is very different to many others. It's not for everyone but it might be worth having a listen to. His recent interview with Ed Cowan was a good balance between sport and investingWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment
