Very aware of the debacle currently happening, kind of hoping it shakes things up as the current team (Miles) have seemed out of ideas for a long tie now, and I think as such a complete world it has a lot of potential to grow in non obvious ways.
Oh yeah the editor can really soak up time once you look to start making custom leagues and stuff

Premiership Coach was probably the most complete version that has come out and felt much more modern than the previous attempts.

Australian Football Coach is the current title and I while I think the developer is trying hard and it has some potential it has a shocking interface and doesn't play very satisfyingly.

They've really struggled imo to develop personality, the increased matchday squad size and inability to make tactics feel like they matter is to it's detriment, and the off season part is very hit and miss which is realistically a crucial part of it becoming a good game. I'll keep supporting it finanically though in the hope that down the line it becomes something more complete.
Yeah have tried them all and I just don't think the market potential is there to ever make the type of game that I'd enjoy. I remember having some ongoing dialogue with the developer of the Premiership Coach series and also with the AFC developers via feedback on a forum they responded to.
The AFC one is in my opinion, whilst it looks like its got a lot of features, its ultimately going to be hamstrung by it not being underpinned by a very sophisticated ecosystem of connected variables that make for realistic gameplay that enable a player to make logical smart tactical and strategic plans . I could never really understand or see if any changes I made were having or had a direct impact. And when I spoke with the developer, he was pretty honest in terms of the limitations he ultimately faces in terms of creating a model that connects together the player data/ratings with any deep tactical basis. At the time he said he didn't have any AFL tactical or game plan knowledge.. and he was unable to therefore explore that.... I don't know why he couldn't have paid a couple of VFL coaches for some assistance here... It's a big shortcoming that is why I don't play it (Though for the same reasons as you, I continue to buy it when a new one comes out)

FM25 just announced as cancelled. Focusing on 26 instead which is probably what they needed to do in the first place

It's come along way from the games I used to play like Monopoly, Test Match, Battleship, Stratego, Draughts and Chess.

Years back I had a friend who was very sick so a few of us purchased a PS and a few games for him. The only trouble was his father got addicted to Road Rash and would get up at 3am to play it so as to not upset the wife.
Was that the test match with the 2 dials for the batsman and bowler? I've still got mine in the cupboard which was given to me as a birthday present 50 years ago.

I'm playing Star Wars Outlaws on ps5.

It's good. I'm a fan of the franchise and open world so it's up my alley.

I can mindlessly wander around Tattoine for hours.

Because I've got gamepass for the family, I thought I'd check out Starfield.
Oh boy, i love open world games, but I'm struggling to enjoy this one. I find alot of it tedious and the missions often boring. Like go to this planet and get me a coffee from this particular place and bring it to me....right... ..... .

I'm not a big Bethesda fan, Starfield looked like a very out of date game.

I haven't played it yet but I was listening to a review of Avowed and it seems like rather than make a massive, Syrim type open world, they made a much more tight series of smaller open world areas with more interesting and dynamic quests.

I wonder if Bethesda will take the lukewarm reception of Starfield onboard and take a more modern approach with Elder Scrolls 6?

On my end I finished Yakuza 8 (Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth) last week and have been waiting for Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii to release. It should be out tomorrow. Have filled the time with Pokerogue as they have a Valentines event wrapping up.

Has anyone played Suzerain? It's a political/choice narrative, very reading heavy. It's amazing its not a lightweight or simplistic political game. I took it a little to lightly and it smacked me right round the head with my choices....
                    Highly recommend it.

Similarly Detroit Almost Human...again a choice driven narrative.

I got deposed in a coup. Too woke apparently.

I wanted to do a replay but I think you can't skip dialogue so I bounced off it.

I played this with my now wife. There was a point where she opted to kill someone because 'sacrifices must be made' which I still find funny.

I've been coming back to NMS for years and loving each new update. I have to hand it to the developers, they stayed true to their vision, and importantly took their customers along for the journey.
They easily could've sold each update as a DLC, and weathered the resulting storm of disgruntled customers. But each new update, which have all added value to the gane and experience, albeit some changes have been so big as to really require some re-learning, and time!.

But for that i like to support small developers with big ideas. Even if that means persevering early access issues and delays.
Ostriv is a masterpiece of a 17th Century Ukrainian village, city builder. Early Acces still, but amazing already after a few years. Obviously the war is taking a toll, but the developer is still producing valuable, regular improvements, and is scheduled for a big update this year.

Manorlord is one I also got early and Memoriapolis.
haven't played them much as I'm waiting for further developments before I dive in again.

A few games i bought on sale but just haven't given a go yet, although it's no fault of the game, just time.

Roadwarden & Return of the Obra Dinn. I need to be in a mood to read to enjoy these.
