    R.I.P Ozzy Osbourne

Back in the 1970s loved Black Sabbath and saw them at Festival Hall. Ozzy was a strange character and many people probably remember him for his reality TV show "The Osbournes". Abused his body with drugs and alcohol and ended up with Parkinsons in 2019. He did a Black Sabbath reunion concert just 3 weeks ago. He was 76 years old.

Such sad news, but not surprising given the emotiveness surrounding the concert and subsequent interviews.

Black Sabbath were a big part of my childhood; War Pigs is still one of my very favourites.

A very sad day in the music industry, spinning some Sabbath right now on the turntable. Vale Ozzie.

        RIP Ozzie.

When The Cardigans cover Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and IMO highlight some seriously good songwriting AND Wayne’s World has an Ozzy story told by roadie (aka brown M&M’s…Ozzie put on a good show) AND your family is the subject of a groundbreaking reality tv show it proves Ozzie was/is an icon of music history.

I think Geezer Butler painted the picture beautifully when recalling his first meeting Ozzie:

'....I went around to his house, but he wasn't in. Later that day, there was a knock on the door and my brother said, 'There's someone asking for you. ' I opened the door and there was this skinhead, with a factory gown on, no shoes or socks, a chimney brush over his shoulder and a sneaker on a dog lead."

Very sad day for the Osbourne family and the whole music world.

Ozzy had some great songs across many decades both with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist.

That Paranoid album was a game changer. The Blizzard of Ozz album is a classic which was his first solo album.

The godfather of Heavy Metal who influenced so many.

I was lucky enough to see Ozzy in Wellington, New Zealand at the Rock2Wgtn festival in 2008 with his solo band. I Was never really a fan of Black Sabbath, but really loved Ozzy’s solo stuff, especially with Randy Rhoads. He always came across as a genuine person, who loved his wife Sharon, his kids and his fans. All the tributes coming through really tell you everything you need to know about Ozzy. Prince of darkness yes, but a down to earth guy more so. RIP Ozzy. Thank you for your music. A true legend.
I will never see #16 the same!!
