    RIP Ace Frehley (KISS)

Rolling Stone has just reported that Ace Frehley has passed away. A statement from the family, in part, says:

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth”.

Ace had a fall in his studio and had to cancel some tour dates. Unfortunately his condition became critical due to a brain bleed andxwas out on life support.

A very sad day indeed for his family, friends, musicians and KISS fans around the world.
RIP Ace one of a kind

As a HUGE KISS fan since ‘76 I am deeply saddened to get this news while on holidays in Japan. KISS was THE band for me. Ace inspired me to pick up the guitar. It’s a very sad day for Rock and the music industry.
Ace was iconic and inspired millions.
    RIP Ace.
I will never see #16 the same!!

The first album I ever got as a kid was Unmasked by KISS - our primary school had a KISS concert in Grade 3, like every other school would have done in 1980 when they toured and played at VFL Park. I always loved the Ace songs (Talk To Me, Torpedo Girl, Two Sides of the Coin) way more than any of the others by Paul and Gene.

    RIP to an absolute legend

Pretty gutted by this news, as a kid had all the posters plastered over the bedroom walls and all the albums, Ace sang and wrote many KISS classics as well as a few awesome covers (2000 Man and New York Groove), Shock Me, Parasite, Talk To Me, Torpedo Girl, Rocket Ride, Dark Light, Into The Void some of my fave Ace / KISS tracks.

        Mike McCready from Pearl Jam:

Ace Frehley, Eddie, Me in awe…
        : Danny Clinch

I heard about Ace Frehley‘s passing from Rick Friel who I played with in a band called Shadow. Rick was also the first guy on the bus in 1977 with a KISS lunchbox to tell me about Ace…just changed my life. I got a guitar in 1978 to join Rick‘s band Warrior which turned into Shadow. We covered “C’mon and Love Me”.

All my friends have spent untold hours talking about KISS and buying KISS stuff. Ace was a hero of mine and also I would consider a friend. I studied his solos endlessly over the years…

Just listen to “Alive”, I used his solo from “She” as a template. Ace jammed on “Black Diamond” with Pearl Jam at Madison Square Garden…a dream come true for me.

I would not have picked up a guitar without Ace and KISS’s influence.

RIP it out Ace, you changed my life.
        Thank you.
        - Mike

I was glad to see you led the condolences Dog God.

KISS were a big part of my childhood. Dynasty was the first album I bought ever; Detroit Rock City, the first single. I was a member of the KISS Army back in the early 80s and saw them live at VFL Park and a number of times since (including 2022). Ace wasn't my favourite member (that honour goes to Gene), but he certainly was a talented musician and song writer.

          Vale

            RIP Ace.

Anyone else remember the old school desks that swung open (& made a smashing sound when clumsily or on purpose slammed closed)? I swear every second one had KISS engraved on the top of it. Pencil cases too. It was the accepted and loved graffiti of the day.
            Josie :)

            Our day will come
            And we'll have everything.
            We'll share the joy
            Just like '54 again.

Yep, the wooden ones on a slight angle. Between KISS, AC/DC and Van Halen logos, I don't think any of those wooden desks were spared!

KISS were the innovators and kings of licensed merchandise years before it became fashionable. Just about everyone at my primary school had a KISS lunch box
