I've got an Audio Technica turntable. Really good option for the price but whatever you do don't turn them on their side to show what record you're playing, otherwise the band will slip off, disappear, and you'll spend 2-3 months trying to find the right replacement on AliExpress because all the record player repair stores in Melbourne are closed and/or more than 5km away from you (hypothetically).

Ok, it is always a risk asking you a question as I'm fairly sure I'll need to put the answer into the 2020 version of urban dictionary to translate but here goes....

Why do you need to turn the turntable on its side to see what record is playing?

Knopfler's skills are second to none in my view. He's not a massive cords man, rather, he makes every string seem important.

My favourite of their's is Where Do You Think You're Going. It has their signature sound, and the perfect combination of percussion and an amazing change up with beautiful guitar work to bring it home on the four and six strings.
You must be getting old Jeemak, if you are calling a 2pm finish an all nighter.

Because some of us are full on idiots and have to show other people in the room what the music is right that very second instead of just telling them using their words.

I don't know, 2pm the next day is a fair effort.

Or showing them the record jacket... did you scratch the record? What record?

I don't think it was British so I would hate to violate the sanctity of the thread.

(Was a while ago so I don't actually know - the one on top of my pile is the self titled Exploding Hearts LP which is awesome and you all should listen to it if you haven't before).

Not sure if mentioned prior, but Pink Floyd and Dire Straights should be included in the poll.

                        Good list. I give it a 9 out 10.

I've seen the Pistols and the Stones play live.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

                          Both good suggestions.

Do Dire Straights lose points in the eye of the punter because they were highly technical and lacking a little flair live?
                          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I like Dire Straits. I reckon the album with Sultans of Swing was the first album I bought by an OS band.

So - I obviously voted for (and advocated) 'The Clash' but has anyone else picked up the Stones GHS re-issue?

A couple of the 'new tracks' are pretty damn amazing and the fact that 'Scarlett' with Jimmy Page playing was someone lost and forgotten for near on 50 years is simply incredible.

How do you forget getting Jimmy Page in the studio to work on one track?
How do you get him in to do that and then leave that track off the album?

                                So much great material.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.
