Love the sound of the horse and cart without cars: memories of the milko and riding on his cart.
The people traffic (and clothing), charging around at the same pace as going to work nowadays. The sound of people talking with broad Australian accents. Free manure on the streets.

Luckily most of Footscray has been spared by the developers but they are really starting to come hard now. Most of the pubs are pokies venues now and a lot of the Californian bungalows and the beautiful art deco houses in West Footscray and Yarraville are starting to be knocked down and replaced with multi-dwelling units. Maurice and I drove down the streets we grew up in last night and nearly half the houses have been knocked down and replaced.

The start is at the corner of Barkly and Nicholson outside the Royal Hotel I reckon. I cant figure out where the aerial shot at the end was taken from. Maybe a balloon in Footscray Park?

It looks like the Maribyrnong and the old Pioneer Hotel in the frame.

I can remember going to that festival with the Ferris wheel. Our bus broke down on the way in
