Thanks BT. It also explains why so many artists choose to release music on their own record label or other independent record label.
More of an In Bruges guy?

I think George Michael (the singer, not character in Arrested Development) had to go through the same bullshit and sit out for sometime because of his label. I think Radiohead had a big fight breaking up with their first big label who released a 'Best Of Album' against the band's wishes whilst under contract, before the split was official to cash in on the band before they left.

I heard Billy Corgan interviewed by Joe Rogan about the music industry and its dead set criminal. He referenced a magazine article/piece by Courtney Love did (15 years ago) breaking the industry down which I googled and read. Which is getting worse with streaming services now. Any wonders of many musicians find it a common thing to focus on. I live Billy's line in 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings' about the band headlining a US concert circuit and not wanting to do it, "but can you fake it, for just one more show".
It's a prefect mix of narcissism on both sides of the debate though. Delivering the art is only a very small part of the music game, like it or not the labels and marketing run the show and people sign up to it, often without understanding what they're signing up to.

Now, when information asymmetry comes into it like it does in the financial industry, that's where it really sucks because people are taken advantage of. However, many hedonist musicians have underappreciated the nature of the relationships they have with their handlers and labels thinking they're the only commodity on the block when really they're as interchangeable as any other commodity.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

George Harrison’s “This Song”... written after he went to court (and lost) over “My Sweet Lord”... he was found to have unconsciously plagiarised 3 notes. He got the last laugh years later, when the publishing company were going bust, so he bought the whole company

“This song has nothing tricky about it
This song ain't black or white and as far as I know
Don't infringe on anyone's copyright, so
        This song, we'll let be
        This song is in E
This song is for you and
This tune has nothing bright about it
This tune ain't bad or good and come ever what may
My expert tells me it's okay“

Queen's 'Death on two legs' from Night at the opera kind of fits. More about their original manager and studio owner than a label. I guess it qualifies?

Label and Studio owner are pretty much interchangeable.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Clearly I don't know how to link properly.

The greatest rock and roll band ever put on the planet.

The lyrics are so vituperative that Brian May actually felt bad when they were working on it.

Great song' "you're a sewer rat decaying in a cesspool of pride" is one of the most satisfying songlines ever written.
