I always thought the "Don't Argue" had its genesis in the VFL. I was wrong big time.
The "Don't Argue" has a fascinating history.

Re: The "Don't Argue" has a fascinating history.
Maybe you remember this: On Sunday's World of Sport the player who came on to talk about the game just played always used to get 4 or 5 gifts, one of which was always a Hutton's Gold Medal Ham.
In one program, St. Kilda half back Mordy Bromberg, was the guest player. Lou Richards couldn't wait to present him with the leg of ham. I don't know if Mordy took offence. It certainly wasn't meant to be offensive. More like Lou playing the gormless dickhead.
Mordy Bromberg is now a highly respected Judge of the Federal Court of Australia and a really good one too.http://journals.worldnomads.com/merantau
