Your favourite TV Characters - As Best 23 Line up

    A bye round thread:

B: Vic Mackey (The Shield), ?Smoking Man? (X Files), Mike Ermantrout (BB/BCS)

Mackey a versatile tough nut that organises well and always gets the job done. Smoking man just shuts everyone down, nothing gets passed him. Mike is a great role player.

HB: Raylan Givens (Justified), Colonel Carrillo (Narcos), John Snow (GOT)

Raylan always gets the better of his man. Carrillo just does what?s necessary, you know what you?re getting. Same for Snow.

C: Saul Goodman (BB/BCS), ?Prousey? (Frontline), Jack Bower (24)

Goodman my slight outside hustle, great distributor under pressure. Prousey pulling all the strings and calling all the plays. Bower plays 100% TOG and plays through inexplicable injury.

HF: Nucky Thompson (BE), Tony Soprano (Sopranos), Thomas Shelby (Peaky Blinders)

Nucky is my whiley survivor that can?t get brought down, small but plays bigger. Big Tony as the man to demand the ball and similar bastard levels to plugger. Shelby a tough bastard as an extra at the contest, lock down defender and attacker.

F: Monkey (Monkey Magic), Delores (West World), Don Draper (Mad Men)

Monkey got that pure X factor. Delores as a robot should be a great set shot. Draper as a long bomb target and creative but selfish target.

R: Al Bundy (MWC), Omar (The Wire), Det. Pembleton (HLOST),

Al is a good size, plays great when angry a little Will Minson like. Omar, great defence and offence, a true all rounder. Pembleton is too smart for his opponents.

I: Det. McNulty (The Wire), Selina Meyers (VEEP), Jax Teller (SOA), Carrie (Homeland).

McNulty might be like Eagleton, hit or miss but he?s a natural. Meyers as a versatile utility that can play multiple roles. Teller for his speed, size and aggression, Carrie for seeing things that no one else sees.

Sub: Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo), good size, reliable, takes the game on, can play multiple roles and multiple opponents

Coach: Logan Roy - for obvious reasons. Great tactical thinker and good for a spray.

What a trip down memory lane. Some suggestions.
Prousey would have to be the coach...great motivator and manipulator.
Givens the tagger....always gets his man.
MacGyver the sub who fixes any problems.
Schultzy from a Country practice would be the first ruck.
Al Bundy scored 4 touchdowns for Polk High so does a spot at FF beckon?
Jefferson Darcy from Married with is the pretty boy Josh Dunkley role.

MacGyver as du sounds good, but then I have to blame him even when he saves the day with a piece of string and a popped balloon. Al Bundy is my ruck that can drift forward. I see the Jefferson/Dunkley comparison!

You can't bring Ted McGinley into any team. He is the ultimate kiss of death - every single TV show he joined ended up being cut by the networks.

For your opposition I present The Borg from the Star Trek franchise.

They will assimilate the best 22 from all other television series and be the ultimate team due to their collective mind. And if they find themselves behind on the scoreboard, they'll just assimilate the opposition players too.

Just have to watch out for those away games in fluidic space against Species 8472.

Boyd Crowder from Justified fame would be lively and elusive half forward flanker and could yell "Fire in the Hole"
everytime he was lining up for goal.
Probably get reported just a bit too much.

I'd argue that Married with Children improved when Jefferson replaced Steve Rhodes

On that note I'd also like Wynn Duffy lining up in the back pocket. He'd be the perfect mix of crafty nous and would have the best one liners to sledge an opponent with as they are lining up for goal.

Really disappointed that none of the Hanna-Barbera team could make the original squad.

You could have selected Twinkle-Toes Fred Flintstone in the forward pocket, or had the smarts of Yogi Bear around the ball. Imagine Jabber-Jaw as your fullback ... not to mention the pace of Scooby or Shaggy on the wing as they hightail it out of there.

After reading Doc's nomination of Hymie then surely Maxwell Smart would slot in nicely in a forward pocket and be able to give us a "Missed it by that much" and "Sorry about that Chief" every time he missed a set shot. He'd be the first player to wear #86 as well.
