    Re: Summer Festivals

The Autumn Festivals are now on.

I believe Mofra has a ticket for me us to Cherry Rock.
I know The Datsuns, 6 ft Hick, Mammoth Mammoth and Diggy & the Pussycats are playing

The other 2 festivals that are on but I can't go to are the Apollo Bay one and Boogie.

Anyone going to these or others?

Ticket done. Also got one for the new woman, only to remember she works until 6.30, and the times are stated as from noon to 9pm

Dude from work getting one too, should be a decent crowd. $50 + BF but to see the Datsuns going nuts in a small venue (500 tickets only) will be worth 10 times that amount.

I know Mofra loved old Crow Mecidine Show.
Brant Bjork was my no 1 highlight, I want to have his children (stem cells can get me there yet?)

Old Crow Medicine Show were definately no 2, chatted to Willy for a bit, he was wrapt to get the shoe salute (after I explained to him & Gill what it meant).

John & Jim Doe were awesome, very charismatic. The Church were good too.

As ES will point out, I was "otherwise engaged" during most of the Of Montreal & Mogwai sets (God bless those infrequent purple patches). Also big fan of Jelly Roll DJs, although the girl I was dancing with (during You Am I too) decided she would lead. I feel so unmanly.

You Am I were terrible, worst set I've ever seen them play (opening with Damage? Why a sad song at midnight? What were you thinking Timmy?).

Drones were brilliant - Shark Fin Blues is one of the greatest festival songs ever. Meredith/GP regulars.

Tony Allen was just cool, Black Mountain were better live than their recorded material (which is pretty decent), and I enjoyed Gary Numan simply because he showed where most industrial music came from - NIN/VAST obviously derived from them, and even Fear Factory influences too.

I wanna go to the V festival to see the Killers. Or just see the Killers. But it's 18+ and i'm 17 so I can't. Plus they haven't announced a side show. But there's a good chance they're playing a MySpace Secret show, so hopefully they do and its for all ages in Melbourne...

So the "Damage was done" then? Personally I love that song, but yeah perhaps he could've opened with something more old school.
The Drones have to be one of the best live bands going around, maybe I should re classify and say one of the best bands going around....

Doesn't appear likely unfortunatly it was announced that The Killers are exculsive to the V Festival and that is it. If there is a top secret show somewhere please let me know! I want to see the Killers but don't want to go to a festival to watch a 1 hour spot. I'll give it a miss.

Seems a bit unfair to the under 18'ers.

Only seen them once, a year or so back. Can they translate what they do on stage onto CD?

Wouldn't even have to something older, just something a little more upbeat, especially taking into account the crowd at that stage.

Drones, on the other hand, never disappoint. Simply brilliant.

Probably not. I don't think the Sydney people get them at all, not one song in the JJJ top 100!
                      They are excellent live

I'm going to Groovin' The Moo in May up at Bendigo.

Looks a solid lineup; AIH, De La Soul, The Grates, Tame Impala, Miami Horror, et al.

Yeah it is a bit unfair. Especially when it seems that the bulk of Killers fans are under 18. It's looking unlikely that the Killers will play a secret show beacuse they've come and gone and I can't see them returning to Australia for a MySpace Secret Show. If you add Secret Shows as a friend on MySpace they tell you when the show's happening/who it is. They haven't yet. The one coming up is one of; Short Stack, Pink, N*E*R*D, Underoath, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Lamb of God, M83, The Kills, Midnight Juggernauts, Birds of Tokyo, Murph & Platonic, The Mighty Boosh and the Artic Monkeys.
