    Official Chaser contrversy discussion thread

It's obvious we need a thread for when the Chaser get in trouble.

Currently they're banned for their 'make a realistic wish foundation' sketch.

I can see how some people were offended and it is pretty dark but i think it's still funny.

One of my favourite all time shows. Must search for it on DVD.

I didn't really find it offensive until the last line about "they're going to die anyway", I dont think that bit was really needed.
Another thing is, I dont think they are making fun of the kids dying, they are making fun of the foundation.

First off I love The Chaser. My brother and I were discussing it and didn't really agree on it. I think there are certain topics that you shouldn't really make a joke about, kids with cancer is one of them. He didn't agree and said it was a sketch comedy and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Had it not been The Chaser would the backlash have been so bad? I find it unlikely.

I really hope this doesn't change the way they make their show. I haven't enjoyed a comedy show like this since The Late Show on the ABC.

Yep, that's where it crossed the line.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

The only thing I find offensive is how lame the new series is – lampooning sick kids in the name of ‘satire’ seems pretty lazy to me. What will it be next, puns and dick jokes?
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

They have always been lame and unfunny - about as deep and clever as the Footy Show.

Other than pathetic political cheap shots (can't do that now with a Labour government, can we?) they have nothing.

Wouldn't waste my time with the crap so I was fortunate to miss the latest disaster.

                    Big fan of the chaser..

The sketch was quite harsh but its not surprising. They are there to create controversy and they do that well, eg. Osama skit. Whatever they do is always going to affect someone for some reason, if you get easily offended don't watch it?

If the media is condemn every sketch they do its just feeding the ratings and that's all ABC are concerned about. Im not supporting the sketch btw, its distasteful but if they offend you with their type of humor just don't watch instead of making it into a full blown issue where the PM gets involved. You have more important things to worry about Krudd.

Quite a biased statement considering the Liberal Party led to the Glass House being given the flick.

I think you will find both partys are as bad as each other when it comes to the mickey being taken out of them.

Alex whilst I accept that you are not supporting the sketch ... I am not easily offended ... but this went too far, it was offensive (and in my case brought up sad memories). This is worthy of being a full blown issue ... how does that saying go, 'until you walked a mile in my shoes ...'

Yeah Scraggers im sure it affects a lot of people in different ways and they did cross the line, what really gets on my nerves is the publicity it gets which then gets the PM talking. Seriously he has better things to do than make comments about something that happened on Television. Didn't he have something to say about the Grimshaw/Ramsay saga aswell? I dont know the first thing about politics or care much for it but stuff like that frustrates me..
