Lindsay works for male or female.
But if it were up to me, for a girl, I would recommend calling her Barking Apocolypse BenHudson III.
And for a boy, Lightshow Nightmare Adam Griffen Esquire.

I particularly like Barking Apocolypse BenHudson III-I've already got a chook called Huddo and if I ever have to register her or anything that's going to be the name I put on the form! Although I might have to work Princess in there somewhere as well.

Reminds me of the time I took my dog to the vet.

The nurse asked his name and after I replied she wrote down Fido. I then had to point out the correct spelling was Phydeaux.

She looked at me really funny.

Can you beat the name of a girl at my school? Her name is legitimately Princess.

International students often create 'Western' names for themselves to ease the transition into universities in Australia and allow for quicker introductions ie. 'my name is Nicole' instead of 'my name is Shih Siew', or 'Jason' instead of 'Sinpathanasakul' (both real examples). The funny thing about the situation, I always thought, was that usually your name is 'imposed' on you by your parents, but in this case, you get to pick your own name, which can lead to some interesting choices.

Now, and I kid you not, I once had a weird little kid from Hong Kong in my architectural theory class that I was teaching, and the 'Western' name she had chosen for herself was, get this, 'ANAKIN SKYWALKER'. (No, really.) Please note that 'Skywalker' in this case WASN'T to be her last name (it was Wong), so Anakin Skywalker was actually like a two-word first name (ie. Anakin Skywalker Wong)

Now, apart from the fact that:

(a.) it's a guy's name, and
(b.) the guy turned out to be Darth Vader ie. the biggest badass in the galaxy,

the funniest thing about the situation was actually that she didn't want to be called 'Anakin' or 'Annie' or anything like that. It had to be the full 'Anakin Skywalker' or she wouldn't respond. I thought for weeks that she was taking the piss, but six years later and she's (from all reports) exactly the same, I'm just convinced she's nuts (she is).

Now that can't be beat.
