I am no expert, but it depends what size you get, do you get it on a plan through a telecommunications provider or do you buy it outright.

Signing up with a mobile provider and getting the phone for free on a 2 year plan would be the most economical way to go.

Check out the Apple website to see how many different types there are then shop around to see who has the best deal. However everyone pretty much tends to sell Apple products for much of the same price.

As long as it is unlocked without any designated network. It would also mean you would be accessing the American App store with an american account, not the Australian store.

I have been using the Metlink App & it's fantastic. I was at training the other day & used the Meltink App & found out the next train to the city was due at West Footscray in 9 minutes. Vey handy.

I also downloaded App Miner which is good for finding out what new Apps are available.

I use the metlink app all the time when I'm in the city for uni classes! It's mighty helpful!

Just having a look at that site... don't actually have an iPhone but the site caters for my phone, and their range of pre-made skins, plus the ability to customise so much, makes it a good deal.

Good thing to check out on iPhone/iPod Touch is in iTunes Podcasts. It's basically free music/radio you can download and listen to when ever you want.

Also the eBay app I use a lot.

                            Poor Hitler, never happy.

Damn, Apple makes sexy products. I'll definitely get an iPad - but not version 1.0. It's a content/consumer driven device, rather than content creation and could revolutionise a number of industries (publishing is the obvious one) but it's missing a few critical components that make it an "I want" rather than an "I need" type of product.

In 12 - 18 months it should have multitasking, a video camera and potentially flash support.

Until then I'm happy to make do with my MacBook + iPhone combo to get me through.

For me it needs a lot more..of course they know whats not in it is only so they can update it later including those two features. It will also be released with 3G capabilities at the end of this year I heard..but for now its just an oversized Ipod touch with a memory slot..in the next few years it will have everything you want in it and then some, right now its in between a laptop and and Iphone..it's leading towards a device that will make newspapers and magazines non-existant

It will never be a device where you'll do hard core editing, design etc - Apple still wants to sell MacBooks.

The iPad is all about consumer content - apps, movies, music, ebooks and magazines. It'll also include enough browsing/email/connectivity features that 95% of computers require - I've read it being called the 'uncomputer for the masses'. This thing is going to be huge with the soccer moms.

It's had a mixed reaction so far, but so did the iPod. It wasn't until 3 years after the iPod was released and Apple opened it up to Windows users did it become so ubiquitous.

I predict that within the same time, the iPad will be as big, if not bigger than the iPod, once additional features have been included and more and more content is catered for use on tablet devices (which will continue to speed ahead with the release of further competitor tablets later this year).

I'm interested to know if other WOOFers will buy one when they're available in Aus?
