      03. Tensioning - Sparta
      04. Deathblow - Deftones

      11. So What - Miles Davis
      12. Liberty & Justice For Who? - Doug Stanhope
I love that idea. And I love that your list contains Sparta. And you're right. It is all in your head.

Just off the cuff, here's a quick list of what I would have. It's a combination of my favourite songs from my favourite bands and songs I'm digging right now.

      1. Breaking The Broken - Sparta
      2. Get Me - Dinosaur Jr
      3. Lucky Denver Mint - Jimmy Eat World
      4. Fire Maple Song - Everclear
      5. 50,000 Unstoppable Watts - Clutch
      6. Wednesday Nights - Sleepercar
      7. Lock It - The Falling Joys
      8. Assemble The Empire - Sparta
      9. Electric Worry - Clutch
      10. Blush - The Hummingbirds
      11. The Martyr - Cursive
      12. A Modern Way Of Letting Go - Idlewild
      13. Bleed American - Jimmy Eat World
      14. Rain On The Scarecrow - John Mellencamp
      15. 39 - Queen
      16. Light Burns Clear - Sparta
      17. The River - The Tea Party
      18. Say It Aint So - Weezer
      19. Something Is Not Right With Me - Cold War Kids
      20. Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin
      21. Circus Maximus - Clutch

Actually, looking at that list, it's more of a combination of what I've already said plus other songs that I never skip when they come up on the shuffle function of my iPod. Enjoy. Or hate, I don't mind.

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yeah I'm on the Sparta side of the fence. Mars Volta need to remove their heads from their collective bums.
Also, nice work on the multiple clutch tracks. Only 2 weeks till Reverend Fallon graces us again!

Ha! You're too clever for me.
Sparta is my favourite band (so their indefinite/permanent hiatus is causing me some grief), but it's not really an anti Mars Volta thing. They're just not for me. I've decided that I'm a pretty simple music fan, I just like rock bands that rock, and lyrics that work in my head.

I'm pretty much always put off by any music described as "prog rock" or the like. It always seems so self indulgent to me and like the artists try to make themselves inaccessible. I always feel that it's an in joke that I'm too dumb to get.

Of course, there are no doubt just some dudes and gals that are out there, and that's how they roll. And that's cool by me, each to their own.

Just give me a guitar or two, drums, bass and vocals and a 3 to 5 minute track, and I'll give it a go.

As for the Reverend Fallon, well, as a staunch atheist I'm averse to becoming part of any church, but I'm prepared to contravene my own beliefs for baptism into his following. Can't wait.

Wow, there's 2 bands I haven't thought about much for awhile. Hard to put em onto my Ipod from cassette. Huge fan of both bands in high school along with Clouds and Smudge.

Happy to email you the files (which I paid for, in case any copyright folks are reading).

Great tracks. There's just something about the way Susie says "Christ, I really like you". That makes me melt every time I hear it. I know, I'm a wuss.

Did smudge do "kelly kelly kelly" from Cheers and "charles in charge"?

Yep Smudge did those, they also had some great originals. Are also (not very) famous for being influential on Evan Dando's/Lemonheads change of style. Tom Morgan co-wrote half of It's A Shame About Ray and Dando covered at least 2 of their songs on albums.

Pretty good list there chef, can't go wrong with the Chemical Brothers, Prodigy & Utah Saints, was never a fan of Here's Johnny, so i'd probably swap that with say James Brown Is Dead, or something like that.

Could even throw a few Underworld tunes in there as well.

                        Itch-e & Scratch-e - awesome!
