    Animal Kingdom

    Dominated the AFI awards winning pretty much every award that counted. Now there is talk of Jacqui Weaver being nominated for an Oscar for her role.

    Personally I think it's the best Australian film I've seen. The Interview is the only other Oz film that comes close to it.

    Has anyone else seen it? I'm interested to see what you guys think?
    They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

    She has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her part in the movie.

    I saw it and was impressed, but there are parts that are eeirly like a Tynan & Eyre doco I watched earlier this year.

      Those are the events the movie is based on. It's kind of an alternative take on the true story. In real life that dirt bag Denis Allen died peacefully in jail. In the film karma catches up with him.

      The scene where Jacqui Weaver tells the bent cop that her grandson has to die is some of the most chilling dialogue I've heard;

      "I want this part to be clear. This is not about you doing me a favour, or me blackmailing you or anything like that. It's just a bad situation for everyone"

        Clearly the best Australian film in years....Jacqui Weaver was outstanding!! may not be the best Aussie film ever but goes very close and I can't think of a better one. If you haven't seen it go rent it tonight.....it's not like there's anything on the box!!

          Jacki Weaver, not Jacqui.

          Great movie, all the cast were amazing and the general quality was astounding given it's Australian.

            Will have to watch it again as I watched it on a plane, and the sound in the headphones was terrible. I thought it was very good and acting was good for an Aussie movie. Not sure it was better then Two Hands which i thought was great except for the acting and the last line or one of the last lines of the movie.

            Anybody remember it?

              Yeah...really enjoyed Two Hands....some of a young Heath Ledgers best work!! Didn't get the scene with his dead brother talking from his grave under the swamp!! It didn't really fit in with the rest of the story!!

                Very keen to see it. Lantana and Chopper are my two favourite Australian films, and from what I've seen/heard about Animal Kingdom, I will more than likely love it as well.

                    Very good flick. Never thought I'd be creeped out by Ben Mendelsohn. But I was.
