    Queensland Flooding

No doubt everyone has seen the footage coming out of Queensland and it's pretty terrifying. What's worse is the fact that a wall of water is heading towards the Brisbane CBD which will flood at some point over the next two days.

Hopefully any WOOFers who may live in the area are safe.

Well said comrade. My parents live just north of Brisbane, but fortunately where they are they should be right.

You can't imaging it being any worse than the wall of water that hit Toowoomba and its surrounds, but with what we are seeing who bloody knows.

It was quite unbelievable to watch some of the footage. So incredibly sad and equally terrifying. My heart goes out to all people who are affected in some way by this flood of epic proportion. I'm sure most of us know someone up there, or have family in Queensland. We do, but they are all okay at this stage.

Best wishes for a safe couple of weeks for all in QLD.

I am sure Victorians will not forget the generosity of the Queenslanders during our recent Black Saturday Disaster.

Donate, and tighten your own belt. The financial impact of this will be felt by nearly all Australians in some way.

Well said everyone. They certainly did help Victoria during our bushfires, time to help our fellow Australians out. I can only hope it doesn't get any worse for them up there.

Lets get to it Dogs, a match against either Brisbane or Gold Coast to help raise money. I know it has been reported that the AFL will be contributing to the appeal.

I just heard that Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane is on fire too. The water has caused a short circuit in a generator box.

It's just awful, and doesn't seem like letting up.

My uncle, who passed away in October, lived and worked in Toowoomba, it was terrible seeing the map of local streets in yesterday's paper, and the street he lived in. His company headquarters is also there, heaven knows what they're doing...

Best wishes to all up north, their friends and families.

                      Re: Queensland Flooding

I live in Brisbane, we've got friends set to arrive any minute now to stay with us, as they were told to evacuate from St Lucia about 2 hours ago.
I work in the CBD and have been told not to come to work for at least today, but that will definitely extend to tomorrow and Friday as the waters rise.
We're fine where we are in Acacia Ridge, although they do expect low lying areas in our suburb to be inundated.
It was surreal yesterday as we were told to leave work and head home and see the sheer amount of people waiting to exit the CBD. The atmosphere was very weird as although there was no immediate danger it was obvious as we exited the city over the Victoria bridge that the river was lapping the boardwalk along South Bank.
Tomorrow morning will reveal the true extent of the disaster.

My Mother and Sister live in Toowoomba and thank goodness they were fine, but speaking to them they were just in shock as to the speed and devastation that took place. I can only imagine the horror of the people who lived in the Valley down from Toowoomba as the water came so suddenly and so devastatingly.

It looks ghastly from the footage on TV, the real work will come with the clean up though. What a nightmare. Truly hope that no more lives are lost.

It's amazing that the emergency services, public service etc have swung into action so quickly and apparently efficiently. We're so lucky we live in a first world country. Bad as things are, how much worse could they be (remember Pakistan)?

I've dontaed $50 to the RSPCA, which has opened an appeal for animals which are victims of the floods. I will probably donate more later, too,
The poor animals are so defenceless, I can't even imagine how many pets have been left behind. And then on top of that, the wildlife
(if anyone is interested in donating, www.rspcaqld.org.au).

YHF, good luck. To all in QLD, good luck.
