    The Pound Cafe

    Hi all,

I have a rare day off on Monday & was thinking of driving over to the Whitten Oval for a look around, a shop & a bite to eat. Has anyone had lunch at the Pound Cafe & do you recommend it?

    Thanks, Suz 32.

A terrific feed at the Pound. I have a mate who works at Whitten Oval - and I try to get away from work to head there for a bite to eat and a peak at training at least once every few weeks.

Thinking of my stomach at this time of the night and saw this thread.

If anyone hasn't been, get down there. Nice meals - breakfast menu is great.

Like the beans they dish up with the brekkie.

Enjoyed my lunch there from a few months ago - when they eventually got our orders correct!!

The coffee is lovely - has really nice flavour to it. Managed another iced coffee at Barry Halls book signing there in August too.

                Wish I lived closer though.

Yeah, I'm about 40 mins away but if I am headed to Highpoint or anything around that direction, I always sneak in.

Maybe I'm ordering all the wrong stuff, but I've been less than impressed the few times I've eaten there (I live around the corner). It's fine for when I'm at training watching the guys, but there are plenty of better cafes in the area if that's all I'm after.

                          Doesn't surprise me.

The food was fine, but when the missus and I ordered our food it took half an hour and my missus meal took over an hour while watching them train. We ordered about 15 minutes after the start of training and they got the second meal to us after most of the players had walked off.

When mine came out I asked about the second one and they said it's almost ready, but they clearly made a mess of something cause it took us reminding them twenty minutes later for the food to come out (after another ten minute wait).

We ate there the day it opened, they had no numbering system and the waitress was walking around to all the tables asking if the meal she was holding was theirs.
We all were getting a bit of a laugh, and a couple of times, to stop the hunger and to get out to watch the boy's on the track, I thought about saying yes.
I think the owners name was Aristotle, seemed like a geniune bloke and he was very applologetic, the meal was nice.
Although the Lioness wasn't to happy hers came out 15 minutes after ours.
