    The AFL Wins (Again)

After swearing I would never pay for TV, the AFL has won ...

With the new TV deal announced a number of months ago (meaning less games on free-to-air TV) and our lack-lustre season behind us, I came to the conclusion I would only get to watch the Bulldogs twice next year ... once when we played the Weasels and once against the Shockers.

So with great reluctance, I have signed up as a Foxtel customer Has anyone else taken the same action or are intending to do so?

The $50 deal they've got going right now seems reasonable (I can't believe those words just formed in my brain)

I've had it for years, not just for the Dogs but for cricket, soccer etc. Commercial TV really does suck a... when it comes to sport.
    The curse is dead.

It's good for watching the Daily Show and Colbert Report since Viacom banned Australians from watching online. The only other time i watch it is obviously for the Dogs as it's easier to watch other TV shows online.

Rest of the family make good use of Foxtel, however (kids shows for brother, cooking shows for Mum and docos for Dad)

They are a shocking manipulative company but if you love your sport you just about must have it.

Put quite simply, I can't justify the cost. Its unfortunate, but it is what it is.

I'm a mixture of these two. Can't justify spending the money at this point and the fact that it's Fox makes it even more difficult to justify.

Hardest thing I find is watching free to air after having Fox for 10 years, the advertizing is atrocious, they have gone so long at times I have forgotten what I was watching!

It is sport where FTA advertising is worst - Foxtel don't cut to ads during a quarter...FTA cut to ads after every goal. It is really annoying when you are looking to see a replay (or whatever) and they are at an ad break before the umpire waves his flags.

                    Foxtel is great.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I tried watching the first episode of Underbelly Razor turned off after 30 min because 15 min of it was ads.
And the stupid things running underneath, next on 9 etc etc well sorry I want to watch what is on now and not miss half the picture with that crap.

oh *!*!*!*! me that is annoying. I haven't watched anything on FTA for a long long time. Watched perhaps 1 Friday night game as I have no desire to watch a game 1 hour behind the times.

Last night Channel 10 went to an add after a West Coast goal and by the time they came back WC were having another shot and we didn't see what happened. Tim Lane had to explain the whole thing, very annoying.
