    Best vocalists/singers

Thought I would start a thread about what you think are some of the best vocalists/singers in music of any genre.

Maynard James Keenan from the rock bands Tool and A Perfect Circle is a great vocalist who has a unique style.

And he provides his own security. Watch from 2.45.

Note to self: Get on stage during Tool gig, Maynard will choke you the *!*!*!*! out.

Another video on YouTube of him showing his great vocal ability is with his other band A Perfect Circle. It was him performing the song 3 Libras on the Jay Leno show back in the early 2000s. I thought it was a great live performance.

Rule: Dont get on stage when Tool are playing as you can see what happen. Classic.

Mike Patton has probs got the best vocal range of anyone I have heard, in a local sense I really like Ian Kenny from karnivool/birds of tokyo, also Gurrumul, Tex Perkins, Tim Freedman and Renee Geyer

Sam Cooke's voice was beautiful. Listening to him sing "A Change is Gonna Come" rarely fails to bring tears to my eyes.

Otis Redding is one of my favourites, not technically perfect but owned songs whether they were his or someone elses. Full of emotion. Huge fan of Solomon Burke's voice too.

He won't be winning any awards for his voice but I've always loved the deadpan delivery and acerbic wit of Mark E Smith from The Fall.

SO many great singers...One is an Aboriginal musician called Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. A multi-instrumentalist, his voice is amazing.

Or more commonly known as Gurrumul, an amazing success story.
Andrew did you manage to see I think the couple of Australian stories on him?
More of an In Bruges guy?

I think I've seen one. Very interesting, terrific story.
