The cynicism of the modern media knows no bounds

Boy, 10, critical after being pinned to a wall by a car in Kurunjang on school strike day

A 10-YEAR-OLD at home because of the teacher's strike is fighting for his life in hospital after a car he was washing lurched forward, pinning him against a garage wall.
..The boy, from Kurunjang in Melbourne’s outer western suburbs, was washing the family car his older brother when the accident occurred at 10am.

A neighbour who heard screaming coming from the house helped move the car pinning the boy against the rear wall and called 000.

It is not known if the boys were home alone at the time of the incident, but his mother was visibly distressed outside the house this morning.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the child had gone into cardiac arrest and was unconscious when paramedics arrived and spent an hour stabilising him.

The boy was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Victoria Police attended the scene but it is unlikely any charges will be laid.

The brothers go to Kurunjang Primary School.

About 10,500 teachers went on strike today over a lack of pay rises.

The one-day strike closed about 150 of the 1500 state schools in Victoria
Here's a kid fighting for his life at the Royal Children's after a tragic accident, and the Herald Sun, in their ever-so-fine judgement of good taste, decide to pin the accident on the teacher's strike.

    Absolutely reprehensible in my opinion.

I'm not a teacher but I'm boycotting the Herald Sun until they issue an apology to each and every teacher in this state, whether they attended today's rallies or not.

Totally agree mate. I am a teacher but that really shouldn't come into it. Just disgusting.

Cheers for the support westdog54... It is very frustrating when everything that goes wrong is pinned on teachers! This is a terrible tragedy, but the teacher cannot be held responsible!

Don't get me started with things going wrong being pinned on certain professions... I'm a copper!

Oh yes... between the two of us, we're responsible for just about everything that goes wrong

Totally agree westdog54. What happened was a tragic accident and is not the fault of the teacher's strike today. This could of happened on a day when there were no strikes at all. This was no ones fault. What do you think overall with the mainstream media?

                LOLOL.

My feelings on the mainstream media are well documented.

I've also made them known to individual members of the press on a regular basis -- I have quite a few friends in the media and I give them a regular grilling at various private functions.

Believe me, they largely agree. It's one of those professions where a condition of entry is the sale of your soul and conscience, and most of your sense of decency.

Disgusting effort. What a mess of a world we live in where most gobble that hit up.

Slightly off topic, teachers have every right to be putting their hand out for a pay rise!
And no I am not a teacher.

You've also got to love the nasty insinuation of "It is not known if the boys were alone at the time" when there is no evidence to suggest that they were (and even if they were, so what?)

I was going to say, gutter journalism at its best, but you can't even call it journalism. Pathetic.

The Hun is woeful, this is just further confirmation of it.
It's very much a publication that blatantly pushes a hard right wing agenda without even a shred of attempt at balance.
