          Re: Best/Worst Cover

Great thread - years ago an old bogan mate of mine wanted to compile a lits of pop songs covered by hard rock/metal bands and call it 'Proof' (that metal makes everything better)

          Good covers

Something for Kate - Ordinary World
          - Harpoon

          Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

          Faith No More - Easy
          - Take this bottle

          Tool - Kashmir

          Alexisonfire - Dead Hearts

There would be plenty of bad covers around, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Oh, and I'll join the not a fan of Chisel group, but they've still had some cracking songs - Flame Trees (and the clip) is great, as is Choir Girl & Cheap Wine
Float Along - Fill Your Lungs

              Or you could take the Richard Cheese view on life and say that cabaret makes metal better;

Couple of Elvis ones for the vault.
Dead Kennedys - Viva Las Vegas
Fine Young Canibals - Suspicous Minds
                  Queen - Jailhouse Rock
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - In the Ghetto

Actually most of Elvis's hits were originally sang by someone else.

Same theory applies to players and long term injuries.

                              Worst -

                              Britney Spears - Satisfaction

Seems to be a theme with Pop Princesses covering classic that just makes me cringe.
I loved Jose Feliciano's version of Light My Fire. Also love his rendition of California Dreamin'.
Hendrix's version of Like a Rolling Stone at the Monterey Pop Festival was another exceptional cover.

Did you hear the version of 'Shivers' that was released last year by Divine Fits (the side project of Britt Daniel from Spoon)? Much better rendition that the one that was massacred by The Screaming Jets:
