    John Lennon

I was watching a bio feature on the day he died last night, which was quite sad. But it got me thinking what he would have been like if not executed by that piss ant.

Would he still be song writing?
Would his music still be relevant and cut through today's music?
Would his peace message be contemporary?
Would his message still have credibility?
Would he be a leader or seen as old muso or has been with an agenda?
Would he still be loved in the way he is now if not for his death?
What sort of person would he be some thirty years after his death?

I have my thoughts, but I will post them just yet as to not contaminate the thread. What are your thoughts?

    Re: John Lennon

    It's hard to say.

I'm not sure he'd still be bothering with song writing. He never struck me as the type to write singalongs for the baby boomers.

You'd like to think he carried on his peace message and devoted his time to that and philanthropy, on the back of his ability to influence people and his profile, but you could also forgive him for chilling out in his later years.

There's also the chance that he might have consumed so much of his own bath water that he became a caricature of himself, and irrelevant over time. Like a lot of people with a high profile and years under their belt being told how good they are, it may have seriously affected the person he became.
    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I think he would still be a strong peace figure. I think he would have had a new generation following him and would be a force to be reckoned with. There is a risk he would be seen as an ageing hippy, but I think his following would see him more Bob Dylan than Bob Geldoff. I think he would still be writing and wold have plenty of material to inspire him. He cut through disco so I think he could cut through new romantic, synth, grunge, boy band, rock and roll and new crap. Real love and free as a bird shows that.

I think he has been immortalised like JFK and if he was living he might not have had the love he still receives today. But I think he would still be a Figure of love and peace and taken seriously while producing great music.

It's a real shame that we will never ever know...
