    Re: Best Pizza

DOC in Carlton (Rathdowne & Faraday) is by far the best pizza I have had in melbourne.

It's not your typical Americana, Hawaiian etc but uses fresh ingredients and makes more gourmet stuff.

If you like your pancetta's, prosciutto's and buffalo cheese, this is the place.

They also have a Deli on Lygon st which makes fantastic panino sandwiches with cured meats like Mortadella. Worth a try.

Woodstock in North Fitzroy is amazing, plus you can usually catch Will Minson there on a Wednesday!

What do people think of Le Sera Pizza. I'm in Vermont South so is there another one that might be better. Possibly moving to Balwyn next year so any suggestions around there.

I just moved to yarraville, anyone have a good one around here? I've got a Godfather's tonight while watching the cricket, not bad but hoping there's better.

Banter in Queensberry Street, North Melbourne.

Oskars in Errol Street, North Melbourne.

I don't venture outside of my area often but both places make great pizza.

Moved from the best view Burbank Oval has to offer hey

For something a little different, can't go past Mad Moose on Anderson St (one of the most frustrating streets in all of Melbourne) http://madmoose.com.au/ some really funky types of pizza but they do it well, toppings galore makes for a filling meal. El Nacho is my recommendation.

Sadly yes, but my Dad bought the place next door so not all is lost!

Cheers, I tried Mad Moose a while back but I don't really remember it, I'll try out the nacho.

Godfathers is on the banished list, I've been sick all night/day after their effort last night.

There's a reason for that. Anderson st was never meant to be the main street of Yarraville. Stephen st was. When it came time to put in the railway station the Premier of Victoria at the time (1860s or 1870s) owned lots of land in and around Anderson st so the railway was diverted to make his land more valuable! That's why Stephen st is so wide-Anderson st was only ever meant to be a residential street.

Godfathers used to have a good deal-two large pizzas, garlic bread and a 1.25 litre soft drink for 23 bucks so it became our regular saturday night meal. It never made us sick though-you must have copped some out of date ingredients.

Anyway try the Red Tomato in Somerville rd. I havent been there for a while but it was very good a couple of years ago.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Thanks for the history lesson there, had no idea, makes a lot of sense now. I second Red Tomato, its my choice when I want a juicy takeaway pizza and prices are alright.

I've had Crisp which is very much the same. Pretty good pizza for a franchise but nowhere near your gourmet pizza though.
