I met him at The Ducks Nuts bar in Darwin. Was a nice decent bloke to us.

        The guy was a wanker.

He said he killed more people than he probably did, he said he stood over more bad guys than he probably did.

What shits me about the adulation this arsehole was afforded, was the fact he was given free reign to write his own history.

There's enough to know about him, that many respected journalists got a free ride on tales of the underground from him once he had "reformed". There's also enough to know about him to suggest he was an extortionist preying on people just trying to get by.

I won't miss him, in fact, I couldn't give a shit about him.

One parting shot, the bogans that seem to bemoan a lack of severity in the prison system seem to be the same bogans that love Chopper. It's a strange thing.
        TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Surprised he lived as long as he did! A lot of better folk die a lot younger.

I don't love him, and I'm not saying he led a good life or celebrating the bloke at all. But the time I met him, he was a good bloke to me and my mates, we got along just fine and I'm a big believer in making your own judgements about a person. Sometimes first impressions can be wrong, too.

The guy was a complete arsehole when young but in the end he was trying to do some good but it could never make up for the past.
The one thing he did say was don't give me a transplant give it to some child who needs it I'm not robbing a child of life, so kudos for that. As much as he took lives he has tried to give one back.

I think Chopper is a very interesting character but I wouldn't admire him at all because he had a notorious past. Eric Bana did a very good potrayl of him in the Chopper movie over 10 years ago.

He was no Robin Hood but the fact that he chose his victims well ie other lowlifes / drug dealers etc. definitely gave rise to the popularity. And Eric Bana. If you spend half your life in prison you wasted it.
