    Best Guitar Solos

What are some people's favourite all time guitar solos.

For me I love the guitar solos in Iron Maiden's Aces High and Megadeth's Tornado of Souls.

Jimi Hendrix - The intro solo to 'The Power of Soul'' from the live Band of Gypsies album.

I reckon if it were a top 10 I'd have Jimi owning 5 or 6 of them.

Yep, love cranking up intro to Purple Haze as well.

Dave Gilmour can have the remaining top 10 slots. Maybe a spot for Jimmy Page.

I watched the BBC show on the weekend titled: Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin'. If you are a fan its a must see documentary on the great man.

Loved Jimi but think another Jimi (Page) is a better guitarist. Too many solos to name.

Tom Morello on too many RATM songs to mention, best guitarist I've seen and will ever see.

Thanks BAD. Will seek it out.
Not to hijack the thread, but whilst I agree Page was a more proficient guitarist technically, I feel no one was able to come close to Jimi in terms of conveying feeling and sonic expression on a guitar. It's all subjective though, as any great art truly is.

He plays an acoustic version of that song on a 12 string. Word is, they handed it to him and said 'play something" - he'd never played the 12 string before!

Jimmy Page's solo in Stairway to Heaven live at Madison Square Garden. He uses the double necked guitar to achieve the studio sound. Pretty amazing. It's on youtube.

Funny I watched that on my copy of The Song Remains the Same after watching the Jimi Hendrix doco on the weekend.

Vernon Reid - what a brilliant guitarist. Living Colour were a vastly underrated band in their heyday. Saw them at Festival Hall in 1993 and was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. If you want to hear an even better Vernon Reid guitar solo, check out 'Information Overload' from Living Colour's 2nd album, Time's Up.
