Binge Watching - the only way to watch TV

We have been binge watching for a few years now and apparently has become a very popular way to watch a TV series. Binge watching is where you have access to the whole series and you watch several episodes at once. Who can be bothered waiting for next weeks episode.

The most recent ones we have watched are The Sopranos, Breaking Bad and the brilliant House of Cards. Netflix have recognised this and release shows all at once eg 13 episodes all available to watch one after the other. House of Cards season 2 to be released on Feb 14 will be released this way, whereas Foxtel will show the episodes weekly.

    Do you binge watch?

Yes, we have binged our way through Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire (till I lost interest at the end of season 3), Girls, West Wing and Foyle's War. Usually acquire a series at Christmas and binge it through the summer. Tried Sopranos but it didn't take (I am a bit allergic to gangsters)

West Wing started it, I think I'm almost ready to go again on that one.

Watched 4 Seasons of Breaking Bad over a few weeks I was that hooked. Likewise with Game of Thrones Seasons 1 - 3.

Sopranos took me a lot longer but watched the entire series within a few months.

        Yep.

Believe it or not Seachange was the first show I binge watched- that must have been more than a decade ago and it was long after it had been shown on TV. I caught a bit of one ep and realised it was a far show than I gave it credit for. Luckily my mum had them all taped so I watched pretty much all of them over two nights.

Since then I've binge watched The Shield, The Wire, West Wing, and lots of the Law and Order (my guilty pleasure) franchises.

My kids binge watch Simpsons, QI and X-Files.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I've seen the odd bit here and there of madmen. I'm not sure what the hook is to keep me matching, but I'll soon see.

The West Wing is great to binge watch.

Twodogs nominated QI as a favourite of his kids. I must say its my guilty pleasure as well.

Yes remember binge watching season 1 of a game of thrones over 2 nights.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

This is starting to sound like an AA meeting.

"Hi, My names Twodogs and I am a TV binge watcher"

                          "Welcome Twodogs"

Re: Binge Watching - the only way to watch TV

I only seem to get the time to watch and read up on news, as well as play around on FB and post on WOOF (though this has diminished, I'm sure to the delight of most around here!).

A major reason for this is due to a changed lifestyle where I've been finishing off a Masters and enjoying different circumstances in commitment to a significant other. The said significant other has a similar lifestyle to me and has also finished off post grad study at the same time as I have.

We've actually talked about both finishing and getting our binge on over a few TV series, but we're struggling to find the time with work and social commitments. I'm hoping once the dust settles after Christmas (and after Rainbow Serpent on Australia Day Weekend) we can find some time to become TV junkies and just veg out for a bit.

With how work is right now, I can't think of many better things than finishing work, going to the gym and working through a couple of episodes of good TV after some dinner. It sounds simple enough, I guess, but it actually seems unattainable!
                            TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

The best Netflicks series so far is definitely Orange is the New Black. It's a good binge watch.

Though I wouldn't say I necessarily binge watch a show unless it really hooks me in and I need to know what happens next, right now (Game of Thrones being a good example of this recently). I generally just go at my own pace, between 1/2 or 2 episodes a sitting.

Also give Bobs Burgers a go if you are looking for something to Binge. It's been compared with Classic Simpsons (in terms of quality not just that it's a family of 5).
