Anyone watch the first ep of this?

It's got 94% on imdb. I'm considering buying it, but it's not my usual kind of show. Anyone got any thoughts?

Well I bit the bullet.

I'm hooked. Slow burner, but had me wanting to get to the next scene as quick as possible so that a little more would unfold.

It looks promising. Slow set up but then all the best narratives start with a long look at what makes the protagonists tick. This episode was about establishing the back story and when it clicks into action it should be a good story. Deep, dark with a lot of twists.

The director seems to be content with letting the story tell itself. There is no charismatic leading man. Woody Harrelson is fairly understated and Matthew McConaughy isn't as OCD or OTT as he could be. They're going to a dark place.

Love it. Both leads are playing outside their normal repertoire and it is compelling.

Similar slow burning, sensory style as Top of the Lake.
