    Colbert's Superb Owl

Anyone else following the Colbert Report this week?

He's been warned off using the real name so he " moved a consonant" and re christened it the Superb Owl instead. The man is in a rare vein of form.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

The "Superb Owl" joke/meme has been doing the rounds for years.

However, it does seem stupid that there'd be a need to resort to using that term. Is the NFL really that precious (I don't watch Colbert, so I'm assuming that's the issue)?

Just watched the final episode. Worth a watch, Larry Wilmore has big shoes to fill in Colbert's time slot. I look forward to seeing the real Colbert's persona and comedy when he takes over from Letterman next year.

It's a shame to lose probably the best satirist of this generation to a crappy medium like a late-night talk show. There's a pretty good interview Oprah did with Colbert (even though I'm not really a fan of hers) where he and his wife chat about the show and the character and stuff

Still it's been amazing to watch him these past few years. I've not been this affected by a tv show since the Futurama episode with the Seymour dog. You know the one.

Yep, I know why he took the job but I wish he hadn't. He doesn't strike me in the circumstances to ever renew the character as he has promised. I've only been on for the last few years, buts it's been one hell of a ride. I don't think we will be seeing anything like him for a very long time. I love that John Stewart backs and produces his correspondents to shows.

I knew most of these, but not everyone of the titles bestowed on Colbert (genuine and/or not). Genius stuff

The Rev. Sir Doctor Stephen Tyrone Mos Def Colbert, D.F.A., Heavyweight Champion of the World✱✱ featuring Flo Rida La Premiere Dame De France.

Idi Amin had himself installed as heavyweight champion of Uganda for life.

Yep. I'm trying to get into the real Stephen on the new late show, and he's perfectly vanilla fine. But I can only get into it when he's talking politics and channeling the real-real Stephen Colbert. Just a waste of huge once in a generation talent.

It would be like playing Bob as a dour defender, or Picken as a back pocket, or Wallis as a tagger, or Wood 3rd tall, or Dahl only as a forward pocket.

                      Re: Colbert's Superb Owl

I've been watching recently uploaded The Colbert Report interviews & pieces on YouTube (God bless whomever has been uploading hundreds and hundreds of them). It's just timeless genius comedy. The video from The Daily Show about Prince Charles is about as funny as satire gets. Some of the 'Even Stevphens' segments with Stephen Colbert vs Steve Carrell are dead set hilarious.

Man I'd kill for some serious Colbert analysis on Trump & Clinton about now.

See? See what things get reduced to without Colbert overseeing things and pointing out the absurditys?

Come back Stephen. We need him now more than ever.

Well you can get that from his new show. It's not the character and not as good but it is there.

I've been watching it, and it's good and better than other late night shows jokes (although Jimmy Fallon does a damn funny impersonation of Trump & Jon Oliver's recent expose of Trump University was outstanding). But it's not the same without the real character.
