Sad to hear that Jim Keays passed away this morning from pneumonia after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was the front man for one of Australia's greatest bands, the Masters Apprentices. I would even go to say they were superior to many of their contempories.
In 1998 he performed with guitarist/songwriter Doug Ford, at the Yarraville Club. Although i've never felt comfortable meeting sporting/music heroes, he was great value and only too happy to sign an album. Lovely bloke.

A great front man for the Masters Apprentices. Saw him live dozens of times in my youth. A great muso. RIP Jim.

I am shattered. Big Jimmy fan. True gentleman, happy to chat to people.

I said last week when Doc passed away that Jimmy would be next - well he didn't have to take me seriously.

RIP Jimmy, another Master for Thorpies band.

Bit early for me , but I did see the Masters in the eighties when they reformed and it was brilliant.
