    Best Bridesmaid Songs

No not literally bridesmaid songs. Rather songs that if not for insanely massive popular or iconic song would have been anthemic, but is relegated to bridesmaid. A song that pretty much every wanna-be band could have made it big off the back of.

For example, a shitter song from extreme, Sonia DaDa or Mr Big.... (Not really)

More like 'In Bloom' (or 'Polly' to lesser extent) although the messages behind the songs couldn't be replicated easily I grant it. (I explained both to the Mrs recently and she now has a fair bit more time for both songs). But you get the gist, a crazy good song that doesn't get mentioned because the general populous is stuck on Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Ok, take two without stupidity on my part.

Like some, I'm the product of modern marketing. When it comes to music, rage, mtv, max (etc) seem to generally play the well known songs. So for some musicians or bands I've not known much about whether there's any substance to bands beyond their main song, or whether I should bother with bands if the rest is rubbish. So I've been trying to scratch the surface of a few bands beyond their big hit, and finding I'm really enjoying some bands lesser known songs.

Having no application to hear test every band, are there recommendations for bands who are typecast by a big hit who I should give a further go to. I listen to every genre outside inaudible screaming, so I'm happy to take recommendations.

This post has greatly increased my knowledge of what question you're attempting to mumble out.

What bands do you enjoy? If they fit my genres i'll forward you the lesser-known quality - the Morris', the Robbins' etc so to speak.

I don't know if this really counts BT but I really quite like Karnivool. the singer is the front man for Birds of Tokyo and this was the spin off (I think) but has some legs now and is some good music.

Check out songs like "New day" "All I know" and "We are".

Thanks again. I listen to virtually anything from Beatles & Stones, punk, disco, 80's Rock, hard rock, hip hop, alternative, 90's grunge, even some techno. Everything pretty much. Can't say there's too much recent stuff on the playlist, and I'm trying to work out whether there's any substance behind a band/muso that I've ruled out based on one song I've not liked or older stuff I've not had exposure to.

Thanks WB, will put it on the list. Appreciate it.

Re: Karnivool, "Lifelike" is my fav. I don't know where this ranks in terms of their Grade A material.

punk, disco, 80's Rock, hard rock, hip hop, alternative, 90's grunge, even some techno
Lagwagon and The Vandals, Disco - N/A, 80's - nothing of unknown note, Check out early stuff by The Butterfly Effect, HH - N/A, Alternative/Grunge - where do you start? However if you haven't listened to Kyuss you haven't lived, techno - N/A

Karnivool is very very good. Their first album is my favourite album of any artist. All songs are quality. Their second and third albums were decent too.

Although not bridesmaid "songs" Chevelle is another great band. US alternative band with i think 5 or 6 albums now. They are my favourite band with dozens of great hits. Similar to Karnivool.

Dead Letter Circus had a tremendous EP but failed to deliver with their full albums. Breaking Benjamin goes ok too

BT, why not head over to the recent cd's bought thread? Heaps of different stuff on there.
