If the post game commentary on the field is anything to go by one would best be keeping well clear of Star Bar tonight. It's going to be full of nasty cricket bogans!
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I think I will manage to resist the urge.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
Apparently drinking is the logical conclusion..............
Fantastic effort by the Australian Cricket Team. They came to the tournament with a great deal of depth in talent and fitness to back it up.
Kudos to the Kiwis as well. They really do punch above their weight, and provided some excellent watching before the final.
I'm happy someone else kicked it off. I'm not a self identifying political correctness fellow, but every kid (watching on school holidays) identifying drinking with winning a game of sport is a very strong message to kids...
Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023

I grew up with alcohol being a major part of any celebration and I would think that many on this board would have as well. If you've read enough of my posts you'd certainly know I'm no prude. I just found that drinking seemed to be the major theme of a post event celebration that should have focused on achievement via talent first and foremost.
It's funny how the times are changing. Gambling and alcohol companies are so pervasive with their advertising and reach into major sports that it's gotten to a stage where their products are being pushed through in every aspect of the game, at the expense of grace and condolences among international participants in major sporting events.

Such a soft dismissal from Guptil, it just shows how happy he was to survive the opening attack from the quicks.
On another forum I read a quote that went something like "Guptil survived the fast cars that were out to kill him and then got run over by a pushbike".

Very cringeworthy from Warney
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.
Great win by Australia really showed the Kiwi's who is the best team in the world. That ball by Starc to get McCullum really set the tone for the match.

I remember thinking when I was a kid that to qualify to be Prime Minister you had to be able to skul a yard glass of beer. I'd seen Gough Whitlam do it the night he won the election. I guess young minds do take these things in when they aren't quite equipped to deal with them.
But it's the home environment that sets the example more than sports heroes.

I never considered getting tickets for the final until after we won the semi. Managed to score some tickets on the resale website yesterday and so glad I did. A very enjoyable match. Could have been closer but hey, just witnessed a winning World Cup final, can't complain!

Isn't this just sound advice at all times?
Hahaha, I think it's one of those things you need to learn through first hand experience. Just like touching the stove when it's hot, or having a shot of Black Sambuca at 9am.
