What a loss. The last bastion of great cricket thinkers and commentators. He did so much.

Terribly sad. He was proof that you can successfully develop your own style and image as a commentator but not take away at all from the game itself, something that the current crop of meatheads have no idea about. He was first and foremost, a fan of the game, and this was never lost in his astute commentary.

He was certainly the person we could attach both the sound and the spirit of the game to.

                  Very sad loss.

A great leader and student of the game on the field, an astute, insightful observer off it. No one man has contributed more to the game.

He was an Australian Cricket Icon and was a highlight as a commentator during the summers. Will be missed by Cricket fans.

Saw a tweet that Abbott missed an opportunity when he knighted Prince Philip. Sir Richie would have been a fitting final celebration of what he had provided to the country (certainly more than Philip anyway!).
