What a loss. The last bastion of great cricket thinkers and commentators. He did so much.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023 -

Re: Vale Richie Benuad
Terribly sad. He was proof that you can successfully develop your own style and image as a commentator but not take away at all from the game itself, something that the current crop of meatheads have no idea about. He was first and foremost, a fan of the game, and this was never lost in his astute commentary.
My summertime soundtrack growing up has just lost another voice"Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Re: Vale Richie Benuad
He was an Australian Cricket Icon and was a highlight as a commentator during the summers. Will be missed by Cricket fans.
My condolences are with his family and friends."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"Comment

Saw a tweet that Abbott missed an opportunity when he knighted Prince Philip. Sir Richie would have been a fitting final celebration of what he had provided to the country (certainly more than Philip anyway!).Comment
