Pura Cup final: the all powerful NSW lineup hosts Victoria at the SCG

With the return of our test players, NSW has no less than 8 current of former Test and national One day players in for the Pura Cup final:

    Jacques
    Clark
    Katich
    Haddin
    Lee
    Clarke
    Bracken
    Killer MacGill

Is this the best provincial side in the world?

Do the workmanlike Vics have a chance?
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.

What do they say about a team of champions versus a champion team?

Wonder what sort of deck will be prepared this time?

Give Lee a break. Cameron deserves a spot. There should be a rule about players needing so many games with the state that season to play unless they've been injured. This happens to us yearly

Dunno if I'd call your Vics a champion team. Lucky White can bat - he can't bowl. Hussy is all right and Hodge is a dud - he'll enjoy facing Brett Lee.

Does it matter? - we have the best pace bowlers in the country playing next week, ditto the best Australian spinner.

I read on the weekend that Steve Waugh nominated that Katich should be considered for the Pakistan tour. If there are a few senior players that wont tour I wonder if Katich would be considered. Age would be the only thing that counts against him because his current run spree has been impressive.
The ability to bowl out NSW twice will the big test for the Vics and we would need the openers to do their part so that Hodge, Hussey, White and McDonald can build a big score.
To lose 4 wickets yesterday for a modest run chase was disappointing.

What about having been given 2 chances at that level before and squandered them?
              Give Hussey 1 chance.

Let's hope Hussey treats MacGill with the contempt he showed him in Newcastle 2 or 3 years back when he smashed him to all parts.

Aside from the fact that the game is being played at the SCG, Hussey might be more worried about his soiled pants after facing Brett Lee the previous over.

Lee isn't scary to good batsmen just difficult to face

Oh Brett Lee is so big and scary... Get over yourself.

Smaller ground at the SCG too, Hussey will just hit them a few more rows back..

Hodge has played something like 200 first class games for 15,000 runs at an average near 50 and has 50 first class hundreds and you call him a dud.

                          Dear me.

What's his record like in the next grade up? He'll be playing against a Test side bowling attack.

Averages 58 in tests. How's Katich's test record looking?
