    FIFA Women's World Cup

Unsure if anyone has been following this but i can highly recommend it for a dose of high quality soccer.

With two of their group games down, the table is as follows:

    USA 2 1 1 0 3 1 2 4

    Australia 2 1 0 1 3 3 0 3

    Sweden 2 0 2 0 3 3 0 2

    Nigeria 2 0 1 1 3 5 -2 1

Final game is on Wednesday 10am with Australia v Sweden, who are one of the favourites. The matches i've seen so far have been aggressive highly skilled affairs. And there's none of the whining and diving which mars the men's game and ANNOYS the hell out of me (even Liverpool players).

Been a great effort by Australia so far. Watched the game against the USA and thought we looked the more likely to score until they scrored with un lucky deflection that wrong footed the goalkeeper. That clicked the U.S. into action but the girls got it back to 2-1 and they had a dew chances and pressed for a goal quite a while. The Us scored on a break and put the result beyond doubt.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Australia need to at least draw with Sweden to progress.

And the girls do just that! Through to the knockout stage after a 1-1 draw with Sweden.
Wake me up when we get to heaven, let me sleep if we're going to hell

Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath

And we all found heaven - 2016 Premiers!

And in doing so became the first Australian team to win a knockout stage game at a FIFA world cup.

I thought the Joeys did, or was that at the Olympics?

Australia v Japan. What a cracking quarter final.

                        Come on the Matilda's.

They beat us 1-0 in the Asia cup, but I think we can beat them this time.

I heard on 774 yesterday that if the Matilda's go out at this stage of the tournament each player will receive $2800 as their fee. If the Socceroos had exited the Asian Cup in the Quarter finals each player would have recieved $66,000 as their fee.
