England v Australia, Fifth Ashes Test, The Oval

Has there been a quieter build up for an Ashes test?

It will be Siddle or Cummins in for Hazlewood and M Marsh in for one of Voges or his brother I imagine. Apparently it's another green seamer

I can't understand why Cummins was put on tour ahead of Pattinson.

The guy has managed 8 first-class games in a 5 year career and has broken down after a good few of them. His body is just not up to Test cricket at this stage.

Might be fond farewell for Siddle.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

There's a test match on? Well there you go.

Warnie's on his soap box big time right now about selectors, captains, coaches and the good old days.

We were all out by about now last Test. At least they're batting as though it's a Test this time around (so far).

I wish the media would stop talking about Warnie as a selection messiah, he chose Bancroft in his XI and his description was "I haven't seen him but apparently he's a pretty aggressive right-hander".

The media jumps on everything when realistically the bloke hasn't seen a Shield game in who knows how long

Warney is doing his bit crucifying Rod Marsh with accompanying pictures of Marsh obligingly sitting with an old bloke.

Pattinson is being managed through his own comeback from injury. He only played in the one dayers for Australia A and not the 4 day games. He is nowhere near ready for a test match yet.

Cummins is supposedly fit and ready to go but would have been a gamble with his lack of first class cricket and injury history.

Its the problem of modern touring isn't it! An Ashes tour only involved three (I thunk) extra first class matches to prepare so the players, especially fast bowlers, don't get the continuity of playing cricket to get their match fitness up and used to the conditions. Chris Rogers made, what, 9000 runs in the series or something? He was also the only player to be playing in English conditions earlier in their summer. Plays for Middlesex in the county championship and didn't look like getting out at Lords where he plays most of his first class cricket.

Pattinson at least managed a few Shield games in the summer (Cummins played 0, last year or the one previous) .

If he is deemed nowhere near ready for Tests, how is Cummins ready on the back of 2 First-Class matches in the last 3 years?
